Hello there people, my name is Daz from Merseyside in the U.K. I am currently trying to find a Rickenbacker 3001 bass guitar.

Cheers guys, ive seen these ones. Is ebay usually the best way to find them or are there any dealers that specialise in used Rick basses that you may know of?

Hi Darren. Welcome to the forum & another Brit as well! Mike Smith at Rics R Us is the chap to speak to. www.ricsrus.com

Do you own any Rics, or will this be your first.....& why a 3001?
'Rickenbacker'...what a name! After all these years, it still thrills me.

I'd bet that it has something to do with Mani maybe?

Eh, Scouser!

Hey mate.

3001s aren't particularly rare on the net - but as you've seen - 2 or 3 come at once. Image

Good luck, and welcome to the forum!

I'd still rather have the 4005 Mani had!

Here's a wee story for ya as it only happened yesterday!

The guitrist in our band knows Mani's brother and he asked for one of our CD's, so I did a copy of an EP, new songs we've done and 2 live ones an he sent it onto him and then he got an email yesterday saying he hoped we didn't mind but he burnt a copy of it for Mani Image as he was well into it and has it on in his car....

He said he hasn't heard from him in a few weeks but will see what he thought of it.

I bet he's off learning my basslines - If I hear any of them on the next Primals album I'm suing :p

What colour 3001 would you prefer Daz?

Thanks for your help!
This is going to be my first Rick bass, hopefully.
The reason i'm going for a 3001 is that i really like the sound of Rick basses but i dont like the look of most of the 4000 series.
In response to Mani, Primal Scream are better (although i'm a lifelong fan) and edgier since his arrival but i dont agree with his new boring and dull band, Ocean Colour Scene.
Apart fom the linked ebay 3001's and Mani's! I am not aware of the colours that were used.

Darren...did you actually write "I dont like the look of most of the 4000 series".

Are we talking about the most beautiful looking bass in the world EVER? I'm off for a lie down in a darkened room!
