Waiting for a Ric
OK, I ordered the 340/12 midnight blue in February from the dealer. Six months passed today. Anyway to find out when I should expect?
I was told at the onset it would be 5 - 6 months. Watching UPS daily !

There's no way to predict cancellations or credit holds that might speed up an order for another dealer, but right now our delivery is at least 6 months and just slightly increasing. This is at the same time that we've been able to step up production approximately 5 units per day, now that the factory manager and I are assured we are able to maintain the consistent high level of production quality. We will probably be able to increase this further this year which will hopefully keep the wait from getting any longer.

John,
Thanks for the response. My dealer in Pa. said he talked to the factory and was told not to expect the 12 strings till December. Of course I was a little upset, but heck, if I waited this long a few more months won't hurt for the guitar I really want. Interesting note, I'm still playing my Jetgo 450 which my father ordered for me for Christmas 1967. I know he waited a while too, but after 30 years of playing this instrument
I know the quality is well worth the wait.
Thanks again for the response.

Nice story about the 450 Jetglo Doug. I find the 450 neck plays beautifully and I like the body shapes as well. This is one comfortable guitar. My 1966 450/12 plays almost as easily as my 6 string.

Hmmm, Interesting.
I did talk with the dealer again today and now he's saying it is very possible I might see the guitar before December too. Could be a little CYA on his part. Only other thing I can think of is somewhere around May I called and asked him to call Rickenbacker to see if the guitar was not made yet, could they change my pickups from original to vintage. I'd pay for the upgrade. They supposedly checked and told me like PRS guitars, any changes put you to the back of the line. Needless to say... I said forget that idea.

Douglas: I would really like to see your some photos of the headstock and body of your Model 450. Would you be able to post them?

I am pleased to announce, the wait is over ! Got my 330/12 Midnight Blue yesterday and Wow does it sound and look good! Things did change since I posted this. Mr. Hall was right in that there had to be a story.....Despite me ordering in Feb. 2001, it was apparently not on the factory's books til 6/1/01. I would not have received it till...now....December or January. Not wishing to affix blame, I cancelled the order, and found the new 330 at another East Coast dealer. The original dealer did give me my deposit back and I appreciated that. Now I know why I've wanted a Ric 12 string for so long.....what incredible tone and finish! Peter I now owe you 2 photos !
