Mark, you're right, Horseshoe's and Chequered binding, on a Firglo body ...... Hmmmmmmm

Question is, do you strip the cover off your 4003, or leave it in place. !!!

Phil really, really, wants that pickup.

It kind of bothers me that Ric doesn't sell certain spare parts any more ... you can't find a horseshoe pickup or a bass tailpiece anywhere

I do, but so does someone else by the look of it - aren't market forces wonderful?

Looks like you had a good get the other day, Ted!

So...does that now get thrown in a bin marked "horseshoe pickups" on top of a dozen or so other ones, or are there specific plans?!

That's almost as much as I paid for this V63 20 years ago! Image

I sold mine a couple of weeks ago on the Bay for $330.00. I would have gotten a bit more but some knucklehead opened up with another on Ebay just before mine closed and he only got $355.00. These will be available again, you just have to be patient. $500.00 for e reproduction?...not in a million years.

Crikey, completely missed the first part of this thread(my pc is on a go slow); best of luck Phil! As you probably saw I recently got one for $405US for my shoeless CS (as Mark said, you know it makes sense)and it was worth every penny; I'll just warn you that it cost me £108UK in taxes and import duty on top (so yours - assuming you win - should be more if the actual value is shown). Anyway, I'm rooting for you! BTW, how are you getting on with my old V63?

With regards to shoes and 4003s, like Mark I prefer em aesthetically in the older basses, but soundwise, I'll have them in just about anything. Great pickups IMHO.

Im with scott Im considering taking the horsy out of my 67 just cause it gets in the way.the v63 horsy is probably a stronger pickup than a high gain i would have to remove the shoes if i picked one up i guess in that case why not just get a high gain and have it rewound

Why not just throw a high gain in without the rewind? They sound good.

Shoot, for 500 bucks I'd seriously consider moving on and building one myself, with a not-so-little help from Jared.Image

For $500.oo unless your restoring a v63 its not worth it ,to me your paying for shoes and a vintage style surround like i said the shoes just get in the way especially when they don't work.I mean hot pickup but not worth all that to me of course.
