Rickenbacker Trademarks

Post by admin »

This partial quote from John Hall was recently posted on alt.guitar.rickenbacker Quote:In the case of international TRADEMARKS, most companies including ourselves register names, logos, and where possible, body and head shapes in the appropriate countries such that they are covered by both the Paris and Madrid treaties. These international conventions allow the trademarks to be recognized in just about every country, certainly all of those with any significant business possibility. We normally register everything is the U.S., the E.C., and Japan. Sometimes we also do separate registrations in the U.K. or Germany in order to take advantage of certain differences and priorities. Cheers, John Hall

John: Without getting too detailed, do the trademarks protect an overall design or are they specific with regard to precise measurements pertaining to headstock shape and so on?
