No offense Jeff, but I like Andrew's idea better.

DON'T DO IT!

Did the screw holes match up when you put the new pickguard on?

John, the holes did match up with the exception of the one screw by the pickup surround. Since this guard is a "vintage" type....the guard meets the pickup surround rather than the 1/2" or so space on the newer basses. I wanted a vintage look. And I got it.

Scott, why not cut the threads off a pickguard screw and glue the remaining head to the pickguard? :-)

Ack, maybe I should read all the posts before I post?! Umm, great idea Andrew!

Well, upon further review, I've decided I might sell this bass. I've put a lot of time and effort to make this a "vintage" bass, which was quite an effort on my part. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE this bass. However, I think I'm trying to replicate the features of my C64S, which Jeff Thomas now owns. I need that bass back. Or, the exact same. For those of you who have never held or played a C64S, it is an incredible bass. The satin finish (especially on the neck and fretboard) make it soooo playable, and the sound...Jeff, or Steve Berndt, take over this discussion if you please. Plus, I miss the stock natural look. Essentially, I want the satin finish and C64S sound.

The picture at the beginning of this thread tells the story of the changes made to the bass. Currently, it has brand new Pyramid flatwounds $52 installed on it. Since I swapped out the hi-gain pickup for the toaster $95, each pickup works perfectly independently but, when selected in the middle (blended) position, it cuts in and out depending on how you hold the bass, maybe my soldering job but, easily fixed. I'm guessing it's the neck pickup wire getting in the way when switching positions. Since the strings are new, I don't want to remove to check this out since I'm pretty positive the blending knob is the issue. The original white pickguard with USA sticker still attached and the hi-gain pickup plus the original knobs will be included if someone here should be interested. I sent the original TRC to Chris at POTR to paint gold with black lettering, I'm still waiting for that. However, he acknowledged he knew the shade of gold that Pickguardian used so he could replicate it to the TRC to match, which is another $25. This should be arriving this week. Vintage tolex hardshell case included.

Any additional pics happily available to anyone interested. There is one "blemish" on the body that could easily be buffed out, about the size of a pinhole.

Let me know if interested. Offering price is $1400. Like I said, additional pictures offered.
