No surprises here. Early years was none other than J. W. Lennon and his trusty 325's and of course George and his Ricks, later years Macca's 4001. Love'em all.

First it was John Lennon and George Harrison. Then Pete Townsend and Paul Weller.

... it was Pete Agnew from "Nazareth" back in 1975 playing a early '73 4001FG with two slanted J-pick ups in neck position. He got that mod from a luthier who also moded the 4001MG from Roger Glover (Deep Purple) who produced with Nazareth that time. Pete played over a Marshall twim tower with a twang and punch that I never heard again. The "Chris Squire thing" is definitely not my sound although I like the Yes 90125 album a lot... not sure that sound on was by his Rick?

I dunno, McCartney, A.R.S.' Paul Goddard with his mapleglo 4001, Geddy Lee, Chris Squire. It's hard to pick just one.

Originally it was Bruce Foxton that made me take notice, but my 1st Ric purchase was really down to Pete Quaife of The Kinks.

Wishbone Ash, (I was with a band whom they supported in the early 70's, and Martin Turner played a 4001 as well as a Thunderbird bass). Pink Floyd (UMMAGUMMA period - 4001 and Precisions), Yes (of course) up to and including "The Yes Album", and probably a few more bands that I can't remember now - the late 60's and early 70's were hazy days on the road! Oh yes, The Kinks too!

Many years ago I saw Paul playing his 4001s on the I am the walrus segment in Magical Mystery Tour, I thought It looked great. Also the Kinks and Byrds.

Paul Weller--specifically, "Thick as Thieves" from Setting Sons.
