A station I used to listen to had a Whitney Housten alert joke when 'I will always love you' was big. They looped the ahh ahh ahh from that song and would say 'this has been a test of the Whitney Housten alert system, had this been a real alert, etc. Was pretty funny.

We Russians are very lucky to have a guy named Vitas or something. He's usually called 'Fire alarm'. He had a hit a coupla years ago and it went just like this. At the very beginning, he sings in a kind of falsetto, and then he starts like "Wa-a-ah-ah-ah-ow-ow" in a voice so high i'm afraid old dogs wouldn't be able to hear. A true fire alarm.

No way Dean, I must respectfully disagree. It is there first #1 and a great song. I think it IS very commercialized and overplayed, but a great song from my favorite rock band that still tours (after Beatles and Beach Boys.. and not, the later DOES NOT tour!)

I love that friggin song! The only reason I let the credits roll after watching "Reservior Dogs". I love that movie too. I laugh incredibly hard when that song is on. Gotta love the parody on "The Simpsons"

One person's 'Favorite Song' is another's 'Worst Hit Ever Recorded'...it's all about context and connotation.

I was playing drums in a cheezy trio in July 1976...two weeks at 'The Pomp Room' (I couldn't put it better myself) in Souix Falls, S.D. Every time we took a break (four sets a night, six nights a week) the bar owner would kick the jukebox on, and the first song was always 'Dreamweaver'...you do the math...whenever I hear that song now (which thankfully is not often) I can still smell the beer-soaked carpet and swamp coolers...it invariably makes me want to step outside.

I played two or three nights a week for 6 months in a place called 'The Belmar' around the time 'Feelings' was a hit. I heard it constantly in this place, now this was the biggest dive I have ever seen or been in in my life. We used to watch the people walk into the wall when they turned on the lights at last call. Luckily I very rarely hear that song, but when I do I still get the heebee jeebees.

Dane, if it's any comfort, the Pomp Room was torn down about 5 or 7 years ago and replaced with a lovely parking ramp. I live in Sioux Falls and have played several times at the Pomp Room. Beer soaked carpet I can remember, Dream Weaver not so much. I can't imagine playing there for a two week run - Ouch! It was the last real music club left in town, but I think the parking ramp serves the community better.

Speaking of "Kung FOO Fighting", I just happen to have the album "Kung FOO Fighting and other assorted love songs" by the immortal Carl Douglas.

Richard..it's no comfort, believe me...for better or worse, our childhood's gettin' bulldozed away. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to remember parking above the bar and having to walk around from the back to get to the entrance...it sounds kind of like they took the bar out from under the parking ramp. (I could be confusing it with one of many venues from my past...it all runs together a bit.)
I liked Sioux Falls...a lovely town, but hot in July. I went to the Zoo a couple of times...ate a lot of 3 AM dinner/breakfasts at The Country Kitchen...and put the after-market air-conditioner in my '68 Rambler station wagon through some rigorous field testing. Two months later I was working on the Alaska pipeline...from The Pomp Room to the Pumping Station...
I just got a great idea for a new Donald Trump Reality show..."Please Pomp My Ride"...
