I have a hollow body Dean Stylist that I picked up about 2 months ago. It is a good looking instrument and sounds pretty good. Not bad for a $309 bass.

I played that bass of Jeff's and coming from being a 12 string player, it's easier and I liked having that low B and the octave note. Definitely a beast.

I have 4 dean basses. I like them all. Their pretty good for the money. I didnt even know about 10 string. Just something else to add to the list of what i have to learn to play.

Great stuff, Lars. What's your opinion on the Epi Casady model??? I tried one and fell in love with it. I've been wanting a semi-hollow bass and I think that's the one I'm going to get.

The gold top is actually a Gibson Les Paul Signature, the model that the Epi Casady was replicating. I have not tried the Epi other than in the store but it seems to be a very nice bass that captures the acoustic qualities of the LPSign. If it's as good as the LPSign I recommend it warmly!

Lars, is that an Epi Casady, or a Gibson Les Paul Signature? That Ampeg scroll bass looks sweet!

I owned a Gibson EB-2 semi hollow body. Was very unplayable live... too boomy and fed back like crazy!

I had a '72 Tele-Bass that I did a similar pickup thing to, but in my case I put a hi-gain pickup there instead of a P-Bass pickup.

I knew your bass was a real Gibson LP, it is obvious that it is not an Epi! Not too many of those were made.

OK, my partial lineup. I figured it was time to take some pictures.

The two 4001's are currently disassembled, while I ponder exactly how I plan on restoring them from many years of modifications I subjected them too!



Two fives I built. I bought the zebrawood for the bass on the left from Ken Smith.



and they have pretty backs too! Both basses' bodies are from the same cherry board!

My fretless, which I'm working on. The morado top was also from Ken Smith. He was selling wood back in the 90's. I guess he had extra! Very nice guy, and it was cool to get a tour of his shop. I took this bass apart recently to change some of the hardware. The body and neck are white limba... also known as korina. Purple heart layer between the top and back.



And my guitar. Carved maple top on a swamp ash body. It's a Tele/Strat/Paul The set neck is maple and purple heart with an Indian rosewood FB. Sounds like a smooth fat Tele. I call the color mangoburst.

Some nice gear there David. Your Rickenbackers both are interesting. The one on the left looks almost like a Burgandyglo rather than Fireglo. There is virtually no fading to it it seems? And the wood on the neck on the Mapleglo is one of the best I've ever seen on a Ric bass.

Thanks. The burgundy bass was refinished. It was Mapleglo. The color is called burgundy mist... it was an auto body paint. it has small metal flake in it. It's a nice bass... march '73 (I just found out last night...). It has the checkerboard binding, split bridge, and the wavey tuners.

The Mapleglo was my first Ric, I bought new. Even though I swear I bought it in '72, it seems to have been made in August '73,and lacks everything but the fancy tuners. The fingerboard is quite nice,,, it's a bright orange wood.



(I started to make it a lined fretless once...)
