Carole: Any chance you could get Suzi to answer a number of questions posed in this thread?

Tascam makes a stand alone CD recorder that you could plug your home stereo into and cd-er-ize your tapes, records, etc. Under 400 bucks at GC

Sorry for the hiatus, Carole.
Is everything fine now with your cassette, CD recorder and computer setup?
Can you put an ID/Number to the top of each song, so that the tracks can be selectable?

For those of you who are reading these messages, I've already told Peter that Suzi has a health problem and is not able to participate at this time. She is also dealing with the effects of Hurricane Isabel. She did tell me that the Suzi Arden Rickenbacker was used on her album, "Live at the Mint."

Welcome back. Yes, I was able to list the Table of Contents on the CD. I hooked up a portable tape deck to use as a speaker via the Auxiliary button. The problem was that the manual had incorrect instructions. After ruining about 20 CD's, I discovered that we aren't supposed to press the Record button to change tracks as the manual states. We hit the Enter button instead.

It is not the greatest quality in the world, but at least 29 tunes are on it with another in the making with that many more.

I sure wish I knew how to operate the machine that you work on--even if I am an old lady.

Thanks Carole, I am sure many of us will be following this thread closely for additional information as Suzi's health permits. I appreciate the information about "Live At The Mint."

Glad to know that your CD burning setup is working fine. Enjoy your new toys. Big and small, they are all machines with knobs and buttons and sometimes faders...

By the way, GC is "Guitar Center" chainstores who sell music related audio equipment too.

I wouldn't exactly say it's working fine. It's sort of a pain in the neck or another body part. Some of the songs won't play on my computer, but they play on the boom box. Go figure. I'd like to have the machine your studio uses. They said it costs about $1400. Is it basically the same thing, only better?

Yes the HHB CD-R machine is a pro quality CD recorder and I've never got any CD's burned by it that have problems when being played by computers. The only shortcoming is that it doesn't have 2 CD trays so that you can do CD to CD copying. I don't know if they've come up with a model that has 2 CD trays though.

You're right, it's basically the same thing, only better, if you can justify spending that amount of money on one. I personnaly won't as I'd rather spend that money on another Rickenbacker bass haha!

I've got some CD's that my friends computer-burned for me that are OK with my wife's PC but can't be played by my i-Mac, or vice versa. Some things are yet to be sorted out in the field of computer/audio interfaces...as digital technology is in fact still in its infancy, IMHO.

There's gotta be another setup which is as good but costs a lot less. I'd suggest spending some time on reseaching while you bear with your current setup.

Getting back to Suzi Arden, here is another interesting tidbit.

Imagine how exciting it must have been to be playing a Rickenbacker 12 string and being one of the first to hear that chime. Not only did Suzi get the chance to play a Rickenbacker 12 for the first time, but the very first one!

Interesting to me that Suzi never made a big thing about being the first to play a 12-string Rickenbacker. I didn't even know it until I logged into your forum, and we've been friends for over 50 years. She just went about her business and played it.
