Quite possibly the UGLIEST production guitars and basses ever made.

I could never understand those da***d things...they are a perfect example of why people with no aesthetic training or common sense should not "design" geetars.

Takes the cake in the annals of inventors' self-delusion. Can you imagine what having a beer with this guy would be like? His text:

"through trial and error I made this regular guitar into a legend. This guitar will play anything that puts out a standard rca output signal such as a playstation, vcr, dvd player, and more. Also let me say I have already filed for a patent for this idea so copycaters beware, lol. The tv's are internally wired and run off of 12 volt power, which is provided by an included 12 volt power converter. The wires are ran through the guitar and attach to a standard mic cable output. The included cord which is about 20 feet long plugs into the guitar through the mic cord connector and the other ends connect to the power converter and dvd player which are both included. This guitar is a legend everytime I played on it it blew peoples minds, it is always a crowd favorite. The tvs are 6.5 inch pyle monitors that are in startup mode. The guitar is a epiphone thunderbird that I striped and painted black. The neck is still the original finish. I changed the pickups to emg's and the knobs were wired out. I have ordered a new pic guard and should be able to include this before shipping, thanks a lot and if you have questions please ask!"

Does anyone really think his "patent" warning is to be taken seriously?

Anyway, it's up to $7.16 with no reserve. I think I'll bid. It would be great in pearlescent light aqua, playing beach party movies!

Yes, this is a particularly clumsy re-interpretation of a 19th century lyre guitar shape...most of those were created by illustrators and artists who seemed to have a passing familiarity with "beauxs-arts" tradition. This is closer to "bozo-arts", though.

There's a bit of visual cnonnection with those guitars Semie Moseley made for the Strawberry Alarm Clock back in '68, too.

At least he doesn't claim to be "legendary"...

His name is uncomfortably close to mine. Yikes.

Didn't Robbie Robertson play an instrument somewhat the same shape w/sympathetic strings in The Last Waltz?

Yeah, very similar George! I think that one was a Gibson harp guitar, but i'm not so sure that they were sympathetic strings, as Robbie actually played them IIRC.

I don't mind whimsical guitars, like that Banana one (though I agree it does look clumsily done, as Paul said). I just don't like the bitchin, "legendary" designs like that Explorer hack, the one that looks like it's slotted to fit onto a workbench or something. Those things remind me of 7th grade boys drawing Molly Hatchet album art on their school desks.
