Bass Rigs.........

Yeah, the cab's fine. I tested it out in the store, with an SVT-VR and a 4003 MID just to make sure, and the guy in the store (a small store where they know me) did the same thing. Somewhere there's a kink in the chain, I'm sure. Just have to find it.

Well one less unknown in the chain, try swapping out all the cables.

You could also take the Ampeg/Crown combo to the store and try it with another cabinet.

I think I got it to do what it's supposed to be doing. I think. Seems to sound okay with the band. Still have to turn it up most of the way, but we're not exactly a quite band. One the plus side, I feel like this was the first time my 4003 really started to sound like it's supposed to! I dialed up that clank nice and bright, too. That SVT-350 is just about as worthless as they come. I think I might have almost done something right for once. Now, as long as I can tune the bass itself in properly, I'll be good.

Robert those SVT preamps were not known for their prodigous output.. That was the complaint against them. There were a few threads on the old Ampeg forum (before it was pulled) about the lower output drive with them.

John, thanks, I'll check into that.

Jim, I'm not exactly sure. My drummer is a sound guy from way back and he understands these things far better than I do, it was something he did with the settings on it. I have to spend more time figuring out all the other settings, such as the EQ and what not. I know amp heads and cabinets, but I know zip-o-la about power amps. All I know is that it looks and sounds like it's running in bridged mono mode. At one time the 2nd channel VU light thing lit up all the way and stayed there, but then it went away. So we'll see. I'm still going to try and call Crown and see what they have to say.

Very nice VOX.

I used to use an original Vox AC30 to practice on back in the 70's and 80's because my full Orange stack was a tad loud, oh how I wish I'd kept that !!!

Here is a picture of my rig. it is a hartke 3500, 410xl cab and a 15 gbenz cab. Not using the GB amp at this time. Also using my $40.00 ebay peavy bass, Still waiting on my new Ric to be shipped. Thanks for the help guys, you know who you are. LOL

Yeap, I wish I had the funds to buy it. But according to what I've been told a long time ago, my Ric order should be coming this month. I have noticed, Ric is now shipping 4003's out the door. Maybe mine will not be far behind. It sure is a good looking bass, my wife's car A/C went out today, and here in the south it was 96 degrees. There goes my money. LOL

That's the truth! 96 humid degrees and that suddenly gains priority.

Glad to see you'll finally get that bass you've been so patiently waiting for!

I remember when you ordered. Personally, I would have ordered it as just a lefty and had the dealer restring it for righty, probably saving a year or so on delivery time, but I understand your reasons.

Yea no rain in about 3 months, humidity has been really low for this time of year, but it is very hot and dry. Farmers are not planting a thing. As for my bass, I didnt want to ruin the warranty, you know the story. Yep, I check my phone and emails everyday. By the time its gets here, I will know how to do pictures even better. LOL I just looked at the bass at potr and it has a two piece pickguard. Ric only made this model for a few years, right?
