Me too! Patience is a virtue they say. I don't believe it, but...they keep saying it anyway. :)

I had this LP but sold it on Ebay several years ago for $150 (paid $3 in 1969). I can't recall if there were shots of Paul with the 4001 since the Hofner was used in the film. But it's worth a look.
Dave,

I think the US version came with the book. My copy is US and has the book. I'll check out the book.
Dave,

I take that back. I thought it was a book, but it is just the gatefold sleeve. I guess I need to look at my collection once in a while.

Some day, once she is grown up, Eleanor will see this photo and realize how much trust you had in her then! :D

This is a great thread. The permanently perceived Beatles/Hofner McCartney association makes it hard to track down photos of the real unsung hero of the 66/67 recording era (the Ric) and makes it all the more satisfying when more come to light.

I came across a 1966 Beatles Monthly Mag 'Christmas Extra' which distinguishes itself from the monthly issues of that time by including colour photos. One of the pics I have not seen before, although there are other B&W shots from the same session in this thread already.

Here's the colour pic:
1999col.jpg
What caught my eye on that was what appears to be the use of black tapewound strings, although the previously posted picture from (most likely) the same session, would suggest otherwise:

A trick of the light on the colour picture or too much light on the B&W one? I have heard elsewhere that McCartney used tapewounds on some of Abbey Road, but didn't think they were in use back in 1966. Can anyone with decent eyesight have a look and venture an opinion?

And while I'm at it, from the same magazine, another Ric Pic that I haven't seen elsewhere with the legendary capo in place at the 5th fret:

To keep this thread devoted to pics, I'll start another thread on the subject of the capo....

Well now that the MMT is complete (thanks, Paul), I only have to wait for the C64 in Mapleglo to complete the set. I'm not sure when they will be rolling out but I think it is a few months away,
