I guess in your opinion, Rickenbacker is the best.
I do like the way that dumpster bass turned out though.

I love the way RIC chooses subtle charactered wood grains for translucent finishes on the 4003... as opposed to that ridiculous, flamboyant style of the aforementioned company and lots of others. Does everything have to have a specially figured symmetrical top on it that causes temporary blindness? I'll keep my Mapleglo, thanks.

I have my own ideas about what would be cool but they're probably just as bone-headed. Lucky me, I'm not steering the ship.

I only suggest veneer because I've heard so much about how flamed maple is becoming hard to find. If possible, by all means use a solid piece a flamed maple for the body wings. As to the custom accouterments I'd like, my choice of woods comes from a strictly aesthetic standpoint, as does the desire for abalone. I think the dark on light of ebony on maple would be quite nice, and while MOP on the inlays would be great abalone would really make a smaller inlay like I want POP right off the fretboard. Again, just a pipe dream, my ultimate dream bass, not necessarily what the RIC buying community as a whole wants. The flamed maple thing still confuses me though.

Not many instrument makers come to mind that use solid maple for their instruments, the first that come to mind are Rickenbacker and Pedulla.

Never liked the look of Pedulla basses, but the one I've played did feel and sound pretty good.

The Thunderbass series are quite nice.

My Pedulla Buzz sounds great, plays beautifully and balances very well, but I've always thought the body shape was curious at best. Kind'a reminds me of something squirted out of a PlayDough Fun Factory.
