Thanks for the review, Dan. Sounds like this is the guitar people have been crying out for for years. Maybe one day, I'll get to test drive one. Sounds like Ric really hit home here.

Finally a semi-hollow Rick with a 660 neck.

Hey everyone, I've already expressed my favorable opinion of this model, and as a long-time bass player, my paws just work better with the 660/12 neck. I own a 660/12 in Amber FG, and I've been a bit spoiled by it, I believe. None of those issues with tuning that McGuinn talks about in his video, and my 660/12 is virtually plug and play for me, a workhorse that is always ready to go whenever I am. I've never owned a 330/12 or 360/12 or any 12 from the vintage series, so I'm not experienced with the 6 saddle bridge. But if I decided that I wanted to replace the 6 saddle bridge with the 12 saddle, its pretty much just a drop in mod, isn't it? The 6 saddle bridge might be my only reservation about this model....

The 1993 Plus is just about as perfect as a Rick 12 string could be for me.
As 660/12 players have known for decades, the neck is the perfect player, not to wide, but just right to pull all the open chords clean.
Still narrow enough not to cause over stretching for the lower strings and still good for the double stop tricks.
Its amazing the difference 3mm can make, plays like butter, playability is 10/10. However there is still no room for sloppy technique.

eg. I was challenged pulling the following example songs off clean on a 330/12, now all good with the plus (of course depends on your own hands)
Open C chord all good, all those beautiful SUS chords etc on the high 4 strings.
The Who, Substitute, Pinball Wizard.
Genesis, Squonk.
Yes, Starship Trooper -- tests reach on lower strings

Looks fantastic, 3 pickups with the 21 fret neck is amazing, this is totally different beast in appearance compared to a 340/370.
The tone of cross bracing is surprisingly different from the center block 330/12, as vintage series owners already know.
Also different sustain charactistic as expected. Hits all the classic tones, mixing knob performs wonders.

I'm now thinking my center block 330/12 would be better paired with standard Hi-gains just as it was designed (factory knows best again!), still 100% pure Rick but just different compared to a cross braced guitar.

The F hole look is all class, I'm completely converted.
It also has an overall very slight difference in look....it appears to have a tighter booty which only a Rick 300 series owner could notice. Optical illusion from the wider neck I would imagine.

IMHO a superb flexible package that brings all the best Rick elements into one 12 string guitar.

I've had my 1993+ for a week now and absolutely love it. I didn't think I'd ever consider selling my '98 660/12, which I bought new. Now it's likely. The 1993+ is a game changer for me. While I was on the phone with Chris at PoTR paying for the guitar, he got a shipment of TI flats in, so he set mine up with a set before shipping. IMHO, these strings are vastly superior to the stock set. This is my 4th Rick 12 ('96 360/12; '98 660/12; and '00 360/12CW; ), and this one is exactly what I've been waiting for. I can't think of a single "Gee, I wish they would have..." with this guitar. I was concerned about going from a 12 saddle bridge to a 6. The intonation is spot on, so no problem there. The vintage case looks cooler, but I think the standard case offers more protection. Besides, nobody's gonna see it under my bed.

I'm not going to question RIC on how they make and market guitars. I don't know why they waited this long to put a wider neck on a semi-hollow 12 - I'm just glad they did. They hit a home run with the 1993+. Now all the folks who ordered colors other than FG are probably getting pretty anxious! Thank you Pete, and thank you RIC!

Wish I could play a wide neck or even a 12 string. I never thought for a minute that you would even consider selling the 660/12

The Ruby one on eBay looks awesome.

More positive comments! Looks like RIC really hit home with these. Man, I'd really want to give one a test drive someday soon.

Two here (381/12, 360/12 C63), and I'm pretty much in the same boat. . . on a semi-related note, my Vox Teardrop XII neck is similar to the 660/12 neck, and I really like that neck

Yeah, Joelle, I'm surprised myself. I've had the 660/12 since buying it new 17 years ago. Frankly I prefer semi-hollow Ricks to the solid bodies, but I just couldn't play the 12's with the narrow neck. That's why I jumped on the 660/12 when they came out with it. (I was in a multi-year no guitar phase when the TP's were on sale.) The 1993+ is the best of both worlds and the best sounding 12 string I've ever played. I also play unplugged about half the time (lazy!) and the 1993+ just kicks the 660's butt in that department. The 1993+ sounds a little better plugged in and a lot better unplugged so... no brainer.

Speaking of Rick necks - I actually don't like the wider neck on the 6 string Ricks. I had a 380L and 650D with the wide neck and didn't like it at all. My favorite Rick 6 neck is on the 325.

I've never had any problems with the standard-width necks on my 330/12 or 360/12c63. But I would have to play a 1993 Plus or a 660/12 to decide which neck width I prefer. To be frank, the 1993 Plus seems to have everything going for it. If I didn't already have a C63, I would certainly spring for one!
