Marcello - is that a perloid pickguard or just some picture debris?

I'll second that... Don just made me a new guard for my Shadow (the original guard is long gone) and he did an excellent job.

I'll third that! After purchasing a '73 4001 from a popular internet bass store, I found that the pickguard wasn't original. Don was able to set me up with a first class replacement. Great thing about the Ric pickguard material - it doesn't seem to age like other pickguards, so throwing a new one on a vintage bass isn't aesthetically jarring.

actually I do about 80% finger-picking, and 20% using a pick. There's just some songs where I like the sound of the pick on the strings.

Everyone does...I am no exception, I just end up using my fingers ALL the time.

Don seems to be getting out of the Ric business as far as I know.

I like the sound of a pick on certain tunes also... When someone else is playing it. Me, I'm all thumbs with a pick, (for you Peter, or is it too obvious?) I still manage to blunder my way through a few songs though here and there.
