Received the Sting reissue today. Very nice bass. Jeff is right about the growl. I plugged in my jazz after and it does sound quite a bit diffrent. I've always loved my jazz and I can get used to this too, but you know... I just don't have the emotional attachent to Fender as I do Rickenbacker. Sorry Fender fans, but their is no substitute for the Rickenbacker.

I got a "Second Chance Offer" from some scammer on ebay. Check out this message from [email protected]. Do you think Robin means Robbin' as in robbing?

"Dear Brian,

This is a second chance offer.

The winner of the auction ( the initial buyer ) didn't complete the transaction so now you have the chance to buy the item.

Since this is a second chance offer i must pay for all the shipping costs.

I will ship the package trough U.P.S Services Air Express and you will receive the package in 48 hours.

You will have 7 days to inspect the item and if you will not be satisfied or the 57 Rickenbacker won't be exactly as described i will give you a full refund within 24 hours ( eBay will guarantee for that because i have a US$ 20,000.00 deposit in an eBay managed purchase protection account ).

So if you are interested in my proposal i must ask you to e-mail me as soon as posible with your full and CORRECT name and address and your eBay user name so i can prepare the shipping and start a secure transaction with eBay.

As soon as the package will be prepared and verified by SafeHarbor , you will imediately receive eBay notification with the shipping status and the payment instructions. ( remember you will have 7 days of return policy from eBay ) .

eBay will let you know all you have to do as so on as we start this transaction.

Thank you for your time and waiting to hear back from you ASAP !"

I spoke to the seller and he states that the transaction was completed without any problems. God I hate bastards like this.

I would also send a copy of the e-mail with full headers to the administrator of the IP address used by the sender. For example, here is the relevent header from a spam I recently received:

Received: from pcp04925450pcs.rthfrd01.tn.comcast.net(68.52.139.213) by permemail02 via smap (V2.1) id xma_13583_1115101317; Tue, 3 May 05 02:21:57 -0400

When the IP address 68.52.139.213 is searched on in the ARIN whois database (http://www.arin.net/), it does list Comcast as the owner and [email protected] as the address to send complaints to. In my example, the end-user has most likely been the victim of a hacker-spammer and now has a spam-zombie installed on his/her system that is sending the spam out.

Oops! Forgot to add that one should also cc: a copy to the FTC ([email protected]). If every spam received was complained about, the FTC would urge Congress to enact a real anti-spamming law with real teeth to it (e.g., 25-to-life imprisonment, seizure of all personal property and real estate, etc.).
