Thank you. Dimensionally and proportionally it is different. I like the look, but did not make an exact copy.

Jeff, I can't help thinking how incredible that bass would look on a piece of black velvet!

I've played the real one, only a 5 string one, that belongs to Percy Jones!

This one is a later version made from wood, not Luthite, although I have played the red Luthite model, too, which looks just like yours with the magnetic pickup removed from the bass.

I don't usually care much for hobbitt basses, but this one is a real beauty!

I've been looking for a nice one of these for a while and found this one the other day. Not cheap, but the recent versions are just veneer over basswood with painted edges to hide it. Pretty nice for 20 years old and you likely won't see any more solid Brazilian Rosewood bodies in the future. They're supposed to be pretty heavy, but I play sitting down most of the time. Should be here late next week.

That Tele is spectacular. The lighter laminations are a gorgeous detail. Brazilian Rosewood is strictly controlled for harvest and export since 1992. So this is an incredible piece.

I almost positive that the Fender Rosewood telecasters are Indian Rosewood.

The one in the pic looks like the Fender made in Japan reissue. Fender Japan has made 2 reissues of the model one in the late '80s and another in the mid '90s I believe. (Not sure of the exact dates) You can see that it is the 2 piece body.
The original late '60 versions were a single piece of wood with a satin finish, like George's. Fender later started to make the 2 piece body with hollowed out chambers in an attempt to lighten the weight. Even then they are some of the heaviest Telecasters you can find. I owned one of the reissues but sold it off because the tone was very thin compared to a regular ash or alder bodied Telecaster. Now that I think back, maybe a pickup change would have helped the tone.

The original CBS Fender Rosewood Telecasters because of their rarity are VERY expensive now!
I would imagine the connection with George doesn't hurt either. Enjoy!
