Erik, when I attended the 2002 show, I had asked my local dealer for a pass. After all, at that time, I had recently purchased two guitars and a keyboard from him.

I felt like a kid in a candy store. Everywhere I turned I was seeing someone I had only seen on a record album cover or from 500 feet away in a smokey(don't ask what kind)concert hall. I met a lot of drummers for some reason....Steve Ferrone, Alan White, Louie Belson, Steve Gadd, Clem Burke, Jason Bonham. I got photos with Chris Slade, Alan White and Allan Holdsworth. I was so inpressed,surprised/star struck meeting these giants that I don't even remember what I said to them, but everyone was so nice and didn't hesitate to accomodate me and my wife. Frickin' awesome!

I USED to have a connection, but no more! I did get to meet Lee Sklar at one of them!

Indeed. Thanks much to those people for the opportunity to meet some of you for the first time and see others perhaps for the second time.
I flew back to NYC on the last plane out of LAX last night and, well, I'm one of those who doesn't sleep well on planes. Of course, when you arrive at 5:30 a.m. the baggage crew takes forever. But hey, I had a blast. Thanks to J.H. and everyone at RIC.

It is wonderful to see so many familiar and friendly faces at the RIC booth!

Cool Joey! I miss that guy. He was a blast to be around, but moved to Vegas. He has some good blues chops on the 6 string thingy. What do they call it again? Oh yeah, guitar I thnk.............,......

I was telling this young dude at work about the music from back in the day, and mentioned my favforite version of Rock and Roll Hoochie Koo. It was the one perfomred on the And album with Rick Derringer and Johnny Winter. Most folks have never heard that cut.
Anyways, I see him in the hall today, and he said, I was just on the phone with Rick Derringer's wife. She's a publicist, so I said, next time you talk to her tell her to say Hi to Rick for me, and that I saw that version of Rock and Roll Hoocihie Koo at the FIlmore West in 71, I think. Well I was "there" from 70 to 72, and the album was released in 70 I think, but a lot of days are lost in a haze of smoke........
I couldn't stop movin' when it first took hold
It was a warm spring night at the old town hall
There was a band called The Jokers, they were layin' it down
Doncha know I'm never gonna lose that funky sound
Heh!

IMHO the best Rock 'n' Roll tune of all!

One of my neighbors has deep ties to members of the 60s and 70s rock world, the surviving ones anyway. She told me that Rick Derringer used to live on our block.

Rick was at the NAMM show, offering his own line of guitars. Unfortunately, his stand was at the far back wall so there wasn't too much foot traffic. When I came in from the parking lot early one morning I saw him all alone noodling on one of his guitars- playing some pretty nice jazz riffs.
