Beautiful indeed! :D

One thing's always puzzled me about Ricks with black pickguards though - why do RIC not also fit black fixing screws? I've made this minor mod to my three Ricks with black pickguards and I think they look much better.

I did that with my 4000,when i got it all the original screws were rusted, and it just made sense to replace them with black screws. And yes,it does look better,IMO...

I though so too with my '93 MG BT. My solution was to put a magnetic horseshoe bridge pup into the black surround and a '73 higain with chrome surround at the neck. The combo of chrome and black worked with the chrome screws.

That was the 4003SPC Blackstar's scheme: black with chrome highlights - chrome handrest, chrome knob discs (although some were fitted with black vintage-style knobs), chrome strap buttons, chrome neck pickup surround.

I once tried black pickguard screws on a black-on-black Fender Jazz, and hated the look. It needs shiny chrome screws.

I agree, that looks great; now you just have to do something about all that bare wood that is showing through.

And, you need an amp to match the concept! 8)

And as far as MG 4003S/BT's go... nothing wrong with the stock aesthetics! 8) Click my signature for a pic.

Not going to happen for several reasons, not the least of which is that this is the last of the ebony and that it turns out this is Ben's personal bass. (I didn't know this before today.)

Obviously you can't appreciate a pearlescent finish from a photograph.

Does Ben want to make 2500 dollars? Dare I say, I could fantasize I'm in the band "Angel' with that bass....

It's a matter of opinion then.

When we made the first Blackstar prototype, it had all black screws and parts. To my eyes it looked blah, completely lifeless so I did a screw change. Just adding the chrome highlights of the screws seemed to immediately open it up and gave your eyes a point to focus on.

As such, it was done completely for aesthetics . . . my sense of anyway.

Yeah, I personally think all black would just be too much. The chrome highlights definitely work for me...

Apparently, at least for 2013, there are a few "SnowGlo" basses available...
