I'd bet you anything that if you canceled your order RIC would start production right up!

Andy,
You know that would be my luck!! I have no shortage of Rickenbackers to play but I must admit I'm jonesing for a Walnut "S"!! I have a vintage spec harness and two 60's spec Classic Amplification pups ready to drop in once she arrives. Looking at all that stuff sitting in boxes is driving me nuts!! I fully expect the wait to be every bit of 9-12 months like RIC predicted. I expected walnuts to be either first out the door or last. Pumping out the color S basses made sense from a business standpoint since there were so many more pre-ordered than Walnut. Seeing at least two runs of painted S basses leave the factory was a bit disappointing since I would have hoped that the second production would have been to satisfy the walnut orders. Oh well, this is exactly why I don't gamble. I suck at it!!

I'm curious to know how one can find this information.
I recently asked Chris for a quote on a lefty S, but he said he could not provide a quote as no production information was available.
I
think I remember John Hall posting that RIC makes all left-handed instruments in a single run, as opposed to making left-handed versions of a particular model in the same run as they make righties of that model. (Which makes sense form a production perspective. Less equipment changeovers, I imagine.)
I want to be sure to get in line before the next lefty run to avoid waiting what could be a
very long time for another lefty run.

Ben Hall said on their Facebook page they would be doing the 4003S in lefties, but alluded that it wouldn't be soon. I'm guessing they will fill all their inventory channels with 4003s basses and 1993Plus guitars before they start runs of lefties. The good thing is finding a new Ric lefty of a "standard" model guitar or bass has gotten way easier in the last 6 months or so, so that bodes well for lefty 4003s basses in the future.

When I ordered my 4003W I was told that it would likely take eight to twelve months before I'd receive it. It took eight and a half months until it reached my hands.
When I ordered the 4003SW I was told that it could take nine to twelve months. It has just passed the five month mark, so maybe I'm passed the halfway point.
(Or maybe not.)

I reckon it's going to be more of a "Valentine's Day Surprise" for me, and probably for the wife, too.

Hey look at this:

Maybe they are finally getting around to the Walnut S models at the factory, since there was some speculation here that these would be the last of a given run of basses...
Looks really nice!

I'm not getting my hopes up. To my knowledge, the only Walnut S was made for NAAM and sold to a music store in Portland, I think. That bass was sold. I wonder if this is it. i would think, PotR would be high on the list for getting some of the first made. I've not heard from Chris asking for the full amount, yet. I'm the first or second one on his on his.

The first 4003SW had the "double-hump pickguard, and therefore the older style neck pickup route. This bass has the new guard with the smother countours, so I think it is indeed from a much newer production batch.
