Hi Folks,

At this stage nothing new on when they're available. I was told they expect they'll be released in summer (northern hemisphere), which is anywhere from next week to the end of August. I'm sure I'll hear from my dealer as soon as they land, so I can pay the balance owing.

I had some downtime today & I was taking a fresh look at the pics on the Rickenbacker website, and I noticed the 4005V looks like it's fitted with solid black control knobs. I like the look of the silver-topped knobs, so I just ordered a set of repros off eBay. If I end up hating them, or loving the standard set, I can always swap back. Meanwhile ..... waiting, waiting, wait ............ ting!

I may still have a set of silver-topped knobs in my parts box that were on the March '67 330 I had years ago. Not sure why I still have the knobs and not the guitar (I sold the 330). I don't have the smaller fifth knob.

What is most interesting about their page is that they still have FIVE of the 4005XC's and they have dropped the price of them by £1200...!

Are they just not popular with anyone because they are short scale? Id love to try one... im more a long scale guy but would be really interested to hear the XC given im totally not buying a 4005V at that price.

I mean that along with price is why I never really aspired to get one.

The long scale 4005 I would like to eventually get. Gonna take a lot of saving though.

Here's a few examples of the 4005XC:

You can decide whether or not you like the tone, but ultimately, they're very VERY well made basses with insane playability because the neck joins the body at the 23rd fret.

The 4005V fills more of a collector niche, I think, but will probably sound pretty similar.

Hi Everyone -

This video should be helpful if you're considering the new 4005V. Sound clips of the bass played with both rounds and flats are located in the description in YouTube:
