Scott, OT but...I would like to hear your version about Pages' guitar (received from Joe Walsh) in the early seventies..The original #3 , not the 95 and on Gibbys...the replicas are not close. Even though we have a 95 and a 60. Maybe this is better discussed on LPF.Anyway, you brought it up ..back to the topic...

What would be the point in displaying a replica? If Sean wouldn't give permission to display the original V81, there would be no '58 325 at the Lennon Museum in Tokyo. I suppose the Daily Howl, Sport and Speed Illustrated by John Lennon, DB122, John's Casino, Les Paul Junior, Ovation, Yamaha Dragon guitar, song lyrics, sunglasses, leather jacket, etc... are all fakes? Even the bag containing his bloody clothes he was shot in are not real? Give me a break. You've got to give John's wife and son more credit than this. The Japanese are very honorable people and they wouldn't display stuff that's not real. They wouldn't do a museum at all rather than put together one that wasn't geniune. They're not like Americans with their Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Things get confused when people start quoting Sean said this and I heard this. The replica guitar Sean was talking about is probably the fake that hung at the Hard Rock Cafe in Boston and then London. There's a picture of Sean actually posing with that thing.

Hey, none of us know everything and who cares in the end. But, there is a lot of confusion out there. Like I've said, I've seen plenty of vintage guitars over the years and V81 in Japan appeared to have the original back. My '58 325 is number V106 and the second to the last in the batch of 28. John's was the second in the batch of 28. Mine has a two-piece laminated(three laminate) back. Were they all made like this? Who knows? Jamie Hoover's is a very early one with no f-hole in blonde and his has a two-piece back. I know of V85 which is 100% Lennon specs and I'm waiting for more pictures to varify what type of back it has.

I did not say Sean mentioned a replica. What I said was he stated that the guitars belong to him, not his mother. I did mention the Sgt. Pepper suits, and I do know why they were made, and it was to display them as the originals. I fail to see how this is honorable. Maybe she just fell in with the bad crowd at the Hall of Fame Museum...
There is a replica of V81. I have no idea why it was built. I have not seen the display in Japan in person, only in photos. One would reasonably assume that if DB122 is there, that V81 would be the original as well.
