Grant, gorgeous bass. That early B/G is a cool colour, much better than later examples imho...almost looks like a deep eggplant. The thing about this bass is that we never saw it here at the forum...or did I miss something... Usually someone would have posted about something like this on e bay, especially being a 21 fretter. I went back to see what day it was listed and what time and saw that I was working that morning and only a hundred or so pepole looked at it, before you snapped it up with BIN...Great bass, and a great catch....

It had only been posted on Ebay for 2 minutes before I bought it. I think I was the 2nd person online to actually see it. Talk about being at the right place at the right time....
Thanks,
Grant
...more pictures to come.

Talk about Rickenbacker basses, and 21 fret 4001s in particular, being automatic sellers. Yes!

Hey Grant, I'm the guy that emailed you after you got it - I was the first person to see it... sitting there watching it for a whole 3 agonizing minutes before it got grabbed... and I didn't even realize it was a 21 fret bass! If I did, I'd a snagged it first! : )

This question has been made before. I believe 21 fret 4001s were made from late 1968/early 1969 to early 1972. I can't back that up, though. Anyone?

I got one, as you know Sergio. FG February '71
Very similar to Grant's in that it has the thumbrest, grovers, etc. We now know of three of them out on the forum don't we, Sergio?
