Dateline for my earlier post by the way was early 60's. I came to Canada in August of 1965. My bass player and rhythm player arrived in early 1966. The only other person that I ran into in Western Canada that played a Rickenbacker guitar at that point in time was Randy Bachman. Then in the late sixties all the fake Rics started to show up on the scene. They were rubbish compared to the real thing.

Winston: Bachman had a Model 375, in Jetglo I believe. I have tried to ask him about this a couple of times but have never received a response to my email or snail mail.

Should you run into him again I would love to hear his thoughts on using this Rickenbacker with Chad Allen and the Reflections early on.

Chris Squire. I was in a Chicago style band in 1971 when I first heard "The Yes Album." Within six months, we had fired the horns and I had a Rick and we were covering Yes, Deep Purple, Zeppelin, etc. No longer have that 4001, but wish I did.

I ran into Randy this spring when he was in Vernon and we had a very brief chat. The subject of Rics never came up. Years ago he was always trying to get me to sell him my Les Paul Jr. I have a very early Les Paul Jr. that was used on most of our Cream and Led Zeppelin sets. He really liked that guitar. It is the only guitar that I had in the 60's that is still in my possession. I was a very good friend of Darryl Burlingham (Brilliant CKLG and CHUM Radio disk Jockey)who is now deceased and through him I got to know members of the Guess Who in studio and concert environments as well as socially. As a result of that I also knew Chad quite well but I don't re-call him actually play a Ric. I thought Randy had a Jetglo 325. I didn't know that he had a 375.

I had a Fireglo 375 WB 6 string Capri. I am not certain of the year but I think it was made in 1963. Again I am not 100% certain but I believe it was one of three ever made. However if I run into Randy again I will ask him for you.

Robert, I sent an email to Naoko to ask when SK will play in the UK.I will post here when I get a response.They are going to be playing some concerts in Japan in July and August in support of their new CD which was just released.My 14 year old son is going to Japan on Friday so hopefully he will remember to buy the CD for me while he is there.

Chris Squire influenced me to get my first Rickenbacker (a used 4001). Though I was a Beatles' fan since Ed Sullivan (or before?), my first real guitar was a strat (a '64, cause it was cheap, both guitars bought in the early '70's), due to Jimi Hendrix's influence. Never thought of buying a Rick guitar til way later (like what, a little more than a year 1/2 ago), when I bought my 660/12.

Robert,Naoko wrote back and said the following in regard to a possible UK tour: "We have no plan to go to UK or EU so far but we are looking for our record deal there and when we can get a deal, we’ll tour".Hopefully that will happen soon.I think they will play in LA after the shows in Japan.I can't wait to hear the new CD!I asked Naoko about her Ricks and she said she has a 360 a JL 12 string(325?)and a solid body.Atsuko plays bass now and Daisy Rock made a Signature series bass for her.Maybe Rickenbacker could make a Naoko a Signature guitar.That would be cool.I think that Michie(who is MIA)used to play a 4001 or a 4003.

Thanks Brian. It is possible that the Model 375 wasn't Randy's but I recall seeing it on the cover of their first album.

Peter, You are probably right. I just never saw him play a 375JG out on the circuit. But again I stress he was a friend of Darryls and so was I so it wasnt like we hung out. Randy was a collector of guitars way back then. I've even seen him play a Yamaha.
