Wow ---- ICBM's new Anthology - extended jam version of NAR is really excellent !! Very tasteful guitar solo around 3 minutes into the tune, (were you using a Ric for this or the Strat from the earlier release ?) and Aitch's rhythm work on his 350 was driving the solo along nicely in conjunction with that solid bottom end that only a Ric bass can produce. And the part leading up to the fade out at the end of the tune was also very Beatle-ly in it's character.

The ICBM's fans will all be awaiting your further "Off White" releases !

Richard thanks for the great review of the "Anthology Version". You have to take all of the credit here. This was your idea.

I used the the 4003 Rickenbacker bass and the 62RI Strat again. Unfortunately Aitch did not get to play his 350 on the reprise. Distance and lack of opportunity played a part in our decision to have me do it on my own.

The rhythm and bass parts are very different to what we laid down on the "official release". That was a conscious decision on my part.

You mean the jam was not just hooked onto the end of ICBM's original release ??? It's really a whole new electronic recording creation ? ?

Now I'm going to have to get both versions, back to back and listen carefully on a decent stereo system - not the laptop here in my office !! And all along I thought Aitch was e-mailing you wave-files that you were patching together in some sophisticated computer program and overlaying guitar licks on... in ICBM's own rendition like the Threetles did on Lennon's "Free As a Bird" on the Beatles Anthology.....

The "Anthology Version" is a compilation of the original release plus I added the "jam" as you had requested.

I was attempting to point out that the bass and the rhythm on the "jam" at the end are very different to the main body of the song and that Aitch contributed by reviewing and approving the finished product.

Sorry for creating confusion about the additional parts.

I have a Beatle question pertaining to your NAR lyrics .... which "children" from which Beatles tune are you referring to -- or are they (the children) the residents of the Strawberry Fields orphanage or whatever the institution was, that was referred to in the original 1967 release ?

The children referred to in the song are the ones that spent formative years at Strawberry Field. Strawberry Field was the Salvation Army sponsored orphanage that John used to visit with his Aunt Mimi. The orphanage is now a church.

So John, did you have any thoughts or comments about the "Anthology Version" that I sent you? I am interested to hear your views on the "jam" at the end.

I have come to appreciate that some members of the forum actually do not like guitar solos in any form.
