Yes. I applaud all the changes that Rickenbacker have been making, bringing back most of the vintage features. However folks involved with the backlog will probably see some "transition" pieces. I really dont know how RIC can get around that from a production standpoint.

When a more attractive design AND a significantly quicker process reveals itself, you do it... no matter what.

Ben, are you still looking at this month (April) for Cheyennes? Bluebursts?

I'm still looking forward to hearing when all 4003s are shipped with the thin mid-80's style necks (just like my '87). I think it was over a year ago with JH or somebody from RIC talked about using up old stock of the thicker neck materials before guaranteeing that all new necks would be thin. I hope to find out when that happens so I can look to buy a new 4003 again. A thin neck, adjustable poles on the pickups, push/pull pot for vintage tone, full-width inlays. Great combination!

To all at RIC....thank you!

This to me is one of the most beautiful and distinctive visual features of these basses and I am SO glad the full-width inlays are back. Just let us know when they start rolling off the line and I will order one!

As always, is there anyway that a person can be assured that they will be getting all the latest with an order? It seems the walnut wings expectation left some people disappointed long after the feature's introduction. We live in an instant gratefication world where we see something and think it should just materialize for us. I am as close to an order as I'm going to get with all the features currently discussed, that a full coverage aftermarket guard and reissue toaster would be close enough to the elusive V68 for my needs.
After waiting for so long, I would die if it showed up without the wings and new inlays. In the third factory spy-shot that jingle-jangle shows from this quote, I would love the nearest bass. I just love the fretboard grain and can envision it in AFG with all the new eye candy. Better wait a bit more to be sure.

All 4003s leaving the factory now have the full-width inlays and walnut ears.
Expect to see 4004Ciis shipped (BBRs included) in mid May.

And there you have it.
Now we need to figure a way to mold white body binding at twice the width with the added width being alternating black and white squares....

That would make it still a one step body binding process.

I'm predicting they'll save the checkered binding for a future reissue series......limited of course.......

Now I know for sure I want a new one when I have money. I'm just thinking that with my luck after I get it the checkered binding will be brought back.

By then you'll be a big rock god and not have to worry about prices, Nate.

Prolly. And for that I'll get you one too.
