Re: The Official Fantasy Reissue Thread
Moving the knos a la Gretsch might work better with a double bound, I'll upload the picture tonight as it is on my home computer. Aligning the knobs along the soundhole looks horrible imo, and barely fits, will upload that one later on as well

Here's the somewhat Gretschy lay-out
Lining up doesn't work, imo
Another alternative knob lay-out
Maybe we should just keep things the way it is, one sound hole?

Maybe simplify it, nix some knobs altogether, say take it down to just VVT, no blend, no independent tone controls. And perhaps, think ES-5-like, you know what that is, right? .

ES-5? Uhm... wait, I think I have a clue!
Maybe we should go the other direction, more like a 60s Epiphone Professional model

Okay, here is a more simple lay-out!

As much as I hate to say it, that does, indeed, work. Except, the plate need to be gold plated, too.electrofaro wrote:Okay, here is a more simple lay-out!
Oh yeah, and try placing the control plate to compliment the sound hole.

Re: The Official Fantasy Reissue Thread
I couldn't find a golden version that quickly, so settled for that one. Putting it opposite the sound hole would be horrible imo and it would be in the way of playing. I always hit the selector switch on Teles when it is on neck and moving it more into the way would not be a good idea

Finding a golden version to match is close to impossible... anyway, final picture for now

Re: The Official Fantasy Reissue Thread
I understand about the hitting the selector switch thing, which may be why some folks reverse the plate around, and I assume the pots, too, so the volume control is closest. This allows for doing volume swells with the selector switch at the rear of the plate, out of the way.
Otherwise I think this looks pretty cool, and is an interesting nod to FC Hall's RadioTel days when he distributed Fender.
Perhaps move the plate a bit closer to the edge of the guitar it doesn't quite balance with the soundhole, just yet.

Re: The Official Fantasy Reissue Thread
I don't think that works aesthetically. Try making the plate shaped just like the sound hole and out of black acrylic.
