I finally put in an order for a c63 in Jetglo. I figure it'll arrive just in time for my fortieth birthday. My hope is that it'll help ease the pain of that milestone a bit.

That's a good idea. I think I'll place an order for one timed to arrive when I graduate law school! :D

For the record, I'm 37. And it takes three years to graduate law school in this neck of the woods, too, not including articles. Better get that order in, Paul. You'll need the incentive.

I know however long it takes, it'll be worth the wait. In the meantime, I'd love to see some Jetglo examples.

I'm contemplating placing an order for a 360/12 C63 as well, and if it takes more than a year and a few months to arrive, and there isn't any reason to think it wouldn't, it will be a late 60th birthday present. I just wish I had been smart enough to buy an OS 360/12 when I was 40 or, better yet, when I saw "A Hard Day's Night," which I sat in the theater through twice with the singer in a garage band I was in.

I'd love to take a look at the marketplace, but being new to the forum I haven't placed my requisite number of posts yet. It's going to take me awhile, but that's okay. I understand the situation and respect the requirements. I've already learned a lot in a few days and hope that I have something to share from time to time.

James: I will be most likely selling mine early this summer if you are interested since I have more guitars than I can afford to keep at this point. It is a brand new 2009 360/12C63 with all paper work and blank warranty card etc., not played - only properly set up by the authorized Ric dealer I purchased it from last year. Once I can figure out how to use my new digital camera and "shrink down" image size of pics for posting (as someone told me I would have to do) I can get back to you or you can email me if you like when I'm ready to sell it. Otherwise I may just put it on the Ric classifieds section since I was told I have enough posts to do so. :)

Greg: That would be great. I appreciate the opportunity and will email you so you have my address on hand when you are ready.

This past weekend I completed the purchase of the 360/12C63 offered by Greg in the above posts. Greg takes meticulous care of his guitars, and the C63 is truly in mint condition and without a mark of any kind. I was able to buy it at a good price, and Greg was very easy to work with. As it happens, we live close enough to one another that I was able to travel to his house to take delivery rather than have it shipped, and he showed me several other Rics in similar condition that he plans to offer for sale on the Forum marketplace. I recommend Greg highly as someone who can be trusted and who will treat you fairly. Thanks, Greg. I enjoyed our conversations and working with you. The C63 looks beautiful and sounds fabulous!

James,
I think the wait is still more like 3 years or more from date of order placement. I tracked the #'s shipped and what went out last time from Rickenbacker's site and by calling the dealers receiving theirs, most said what they'd received had been ordered in 2006. The dealer I have a full down payment with ordered the one I have priority on in June 2007 so the backlog must be at least in the hundred mark or more if there are 3 years worth of orders outstanding. I'm hoping that the wait period for this one will end sometime this year.

Bill, From those I have spoken to three years seems to still be the wait time more or less, so I'm very pleased to have purchased the C63 from Greg. In fact, the closest dealer to where I live told me that since the wait on a 360/12 is two years, the wait on a C63 would probably be at least three years and he therefore didn't want to quote a price because he didn't know what the cost would be by the time it came in.

By the way, for anyone concerned as I was that the neck might be too narrow for those with large hands, I'm happy to say that I have not found the neck width to be an issue. Since there was not going to be an opportunity to play one in a store, or even see one for that matter, that was my primary concern before buying the guitar. While the neck on the C63 is indeed narrower than the necks on my other guitars, I've been able to make the adjustment fairly easily.

Hey James,

Congratulations on your new 'C63!

I had a similar experience as you did with Greg; in a recent post, I was lamenting the wait time for a C63 and was contacted by an illustrious forum member with the initials of KK who had a very clean one that he wanted to sell. We had a few very thorough e-mail conversations, he sent me some pics, and we struck a deal. And just like your experience, mine couldn't have been better; the guitar is absolutely gorgeous, and our whole transaction had a wonderful vibe to it; 2 members of the RRF "brotherhood" showing each other respect, courtesy, and willingness to complete a deal that made each other happy.

This forum is awesome!

Have fun with your new guitar - there's nothing quite like it.

All the Best, Bob

I recently got a C63 in unexpected circumnstances (I was on vacation with family and this guitar displayed on a music store pleased me to take her to my home  ). I can say with no doubt that this is the best sounding Rick I ever played... Sound is amazing, jangle is amazing, playability is amazing, look is amazing, fireglo shade is amazing...
