Oh.... interested in detailed trivia!!

I'm just saying this is not the first time this topic has been discussed, and having scale tracings to point to would solve a lot of speculating and discussion.
John. I always thought of you as somewhat rhadamanthine.

I agree, Wes. If the TRC were shorter, the headstock would 'look' longer. At least the V63 has a correct headstock for a right-handed Ric. What makes ME cringe are the reverse ones on the C64....

'90 V63 between two RM1999s. Note this gen. of V63 was likely modeled after the 1999 style on the right. This is about as accurate as RIC reissues get, yet notice how the TRC is still too long and the tuners are off as well. Luckily for me, those things are easily changed.

Notice how the shape of the curve on the "G" string side from the nut to the first point is a tighter radius which really serves to make his peghead look different. I would have to believe that Rickenbacker used a jig for shaping the pegheads, but why so many variations? Martin guitar Co. has had different peghead shapes at various times as well due to re-tooling. I never understood the extra long truss rod covers on Rick reissues either. Any chance they will come out with an early to mid '60's 4001S clone?

Given all the sanding and refinishing that has been done to Macca's 4001S, do we know this was the shape as it left the factory when new?

If they did, it's not likely they'd get it spot on. I say this strictly from their track record of reissues and how they've missed many of the details on guitars like the 325C58.
