Unfortunately, my only Ric (330/12) is not suitable for Surf. I would be happy to play a Ric 6-string if someone has one with a vibrato. Let me know what you have. I will bring one of my Surf axes just in case.

Do we have a drummer for the Surf set & is he comfortable with the tunes listed? 3-1/2 weeks and counting!

*Please respond if you want to play with your instrument and song you want to play*. I'd like to get the guys a set list so they can be sharp. I'll play rhythm if anyone wants me to, but after 10 years in a trio and duo, I'll need practice so please respond.

I'm new here and I'm thinking about attending. I'm not a great player, maybe not even a good player, as I've only been playing about 5 years. On top of it all, I'm no longer a teenager so I'm a slow learner.

What goes on at these events? Is it okay to just sit out and watch? Can I play along even if not that good? Can I bring a non-Rickenbacker guitar? (I promise to accept all verbal abuse about that last one.)

Well, first we have the mentally and physically abusive initiation ceremony for you, then you pay your first years dues ($12,000 cash in advance) to me.

Just kidding, it's my first too. Don't sweat it. Just come on down and have FUN! This is a great, friendly group-go back and read some posts.

All's good. Play or no play. Lots of great instruments and it's a strict hands-on policy. No initiation, and the dues aren't quite that steep. Only $500 to each advanced member, $1,000 to the senior members.

Oh, and you carry the amps.

Hi David, good player or not, it's just a jam. Some of the songs get played very well, yet there are times when we find ourselves standing on the stage holding a guitar or bass just wishing we knew the song better or at least as good as someone else that's playing it and flub our way though. Usually the guitarists have a better advantage over the bassists as they can bring chord charts to help them through the songs. It's mostly about having a fun day with a very cool group of people. Please feel free to join us whether you want to play or just be a spectator.
What goes on? We play music, eat, talk, laugh and drool over each other's Ricks.
If you don't already own a Rick, you can expect to leave with a serious case of RAS (Rick Acquisition Syndrome). The again, even if you do own one, you'll want more!

sssh, don't make it all roses and sunshine.....they do have to get jumped in.



+1 on what Joey said-----my favorite part is just messing around playing songs I don't know. It's just a jam, no pressure, no promises, no drama!

Well, I'm a geezer and I've been to 2 of these jams. I am a terrible player and I bring a bunch of chord books to help me out.

Sometimes I don't know the song and sit out on those numbers, but if they play something I can only half-mangle, I try to hop in.

The stage is fairly large, but more than 7 musicians on stage kinda crowds it, with amps, pedal, music stands and such. Heck if Paulie left his pedal board home, we could probably fit 15 musicians up there .

We split the cost of the room rental ($20 hr?)x number of players.

New guy buys the pizza!
