Koji, you really want the spool on the floor standing on one of it's sides and directly under the guide, so bring the guide to the table edge and the drill to the guide, I think also the guide needs to be around 150mm away from the pup.

Did you measure the resistance on the 700 winds.

Sean, I have measured that it came out with 546 ohms by 774 rotations.

Only at the time of that picture photography, the spool was put on the working table.
It is O.K.

This would be a much safer guide than my first calc's.

Although I will not do enlargement of this thread, it is in the state which needs the final adjustment for a full-scale volume winding.


The experiment last night had a little coarse preparation just because I hurried the point.
Concentration is important for a coil winding work. For that purpose, a brief rest is needed for present me.

I’m a little confused about the "desired DC resistance". What’s the point?
I don’t know that much about pickups, but as I understand it there isn’t actually anything desirable about any specific resistance by itself (unless there is a point in getting it as low as possible maybe).

he'll not really know what it sounds like until installed in a bass. more turns, more beef...less turns , more top end . magnet structure and strength will determine the final produckt. a 10,000 turn coil 1/4" high will sound different than the same windings on a 1/2" high coil. a lot of it is experimentation with various components, and we'll find out what this one will will do once installed. lucky for us he's walking us thru the process !

i once glued two p-bass coils together to make a giant j-bass type pickup and filled the coil with windings until it could not take any more. big and fat sounding , but more low mids than top end.
