Hoping they're shipping SWs. I too have one on order from PotR's first order.

Good catch Dane! Hmm, if RIC had had a run, which by the examples posted here, they have, i wonder why PotR has not gotten any. A call to Chris is in order.

Spoke to Chris at PotR today. he has not seen any 4003 "S" basses in Walnut, yet. He said if they have been released, he should be close to getting them since he in very early on the pre-order from RIC. Not that that helps with figuring out when I;m getting mine!

Just to look at the absolute worst scenario,,,,,Lets give a shout out to Paul Boyer,,, How long did you wait on your Blueburst 4004 CII? :(

December 2005 to January 2009 -- just a tad over three years. BUT -- three factors were involved: One, it was a limited edition color (Color of the Year for 2005); Two, I waited until the last month of the ordering window; and three, they don't schedule many runs of the 4004 compared with the more common, "bread and butter" models like the 4003, 330, and 360. You put all those together and it was not surprising.

OK, I'll probably catch some flak here, But, while I love the walnut 4003's and 4003S's, I just wish RIC would have rear routed the electronics and lost the pickguard on these. The guard just kind of covers up to much of the maple neck running through the body for me.

Of course, I've never seen one in the wild, so that might change my mind.

I don't care for the 4003W model, but the 4003SW looks nice. The 4003W with the binding and full inlays in white against the maple and walnut just doesn't work for me, but the cleaner 4003SW with only the dark neck dots and the maple and walnut has an uncluttered look.Rear mounting the controls would be interesting, too.

I agree with Brian on the better looks of the SW. But taking off the pickguard and rear-loading the electronics, while looking good, is basically reinventing the wheel. The "wheel" being the original 4004C Cheyenne. Bringing that back would be good!

I pretty much always prefer the look (and other aspects) of the S versions. But i have to agree that if you want a walnut,no-pg Rick bass, the Cheyenne is the way to go...i love mine!
It would be confusing, but if they brought it back, they could just refer to it as a walnut Laredo? To differientiate it from the more complex wood construction of the Cheyenne II?

I guess that is true, rear loading a 4003SW would just mimic a 4004C. Ok, leave the pick guard, but ditch the binding and big inlays. :D

I'm going gold guard and TRC when my SW arrives (tic toc tic toc...)

And maybe vintage knobs, not sure yet. I probably still have a little time to decide...
