Thanks Guys , I got a line on a company called pickguardian . That makes exact replacements . Never try to get one from guitarpartsresource ! They are completely wrong and they will not take it back either.

I have had Tony make me many pickguards. Pickguardian is an excellent source.

Yes, pickguardian does great work and I'll second the recommendation.
I don't know if RIC still makes a black TRC with white letters though. They would make black with silver or gold letters for the 4004 series, but I don't know what model/color if any would have black/wht letter TRC.

Caution - the guards at BassPartsResource.com are RUBBISH.
I ordered a 0.5 inch replacement white for my old 4001, and the quality was/is ****!
Not plexi, it's the cheap silky synthetic garbage. Also, the pickup hole didn't alow for a toaster, too.
Grrr.
If anybody wants it they can have it.

Another Caution-
I had two made at the same time for two different guitars by WD. I sent in my old guards and asked for exact replicas with respect to screw holes and pickup holes. They took around 5 weeks. Pickup holes were around 1/8" too narrow on both. I sent one back(the material on the other was too ugly and I decided against it all together) for a do-over. This time the pickup hole was a little too big and pickup screw holes were drilled so that the pickup fits in its hole sorta diagonally(close to the neck side of the hole on top, close to the bridge side on the bottom).
Talk to Tony at Pickguardian instead. I had him cut two a few weeks ago. He did an excellent job, is extremely fast and was much less expensive. I hear Don Ademek does good work too.

So, can you exchange any TRC for a vintage example?

For anyone interested in a gold one, I just had Chris Clayton paint my white TRC gold w/black lettering. It's the exact same shade as the Pickguardain gold. It matches perfect and he did a great job, looks awesome. He charges $25 for this. I can't shrink a pic of it enough to fit here but if anyone want's a look, I can email it.

That is what I did with mine for $6. It was very easy and didn't take more than about an hour total. I used Krylon black paint made for plastic (or so they say) to paint the TRC. I then used a silver leaf paint pen to paint the logo......works well and is easy to apply (unlike when I first did it with silver leaf which didn't look as smooth).

I did the same thing Scott did last year for my 4003 Jetglo. Despite the flash, it is gold and matches the gold pickguard perfectly.
