From what I can tell, RIC prays the neck after the fretjob. I wont go into the negatives on this process but I refin the neck and fingerboard before the fretjob. This way you end up with a consistant mirror like finish all the way down the board interupted only by frets that sit entirely in top of the finish without the finish covering any of the fret.

I "pray" at the neck of my fretless every night. This IS my faith....

Ye tho' I walk through the valley of refinishing..I will not fear the frets. The Ric is my bass, I shall not want.

Azure! Azure!

The color is on with about 10 coats of clear. I'll let the lacquer sit for a week or two then start the sanding/polishing.

Also.... I have a screwtop type pickup for this project. It makes some sound if you tap in the poles when its plugged in but it registers 0.0 on my meter. I'm asuming it needs to be rewound????? (I'm not much of an electronics guy) I could use some suggestions on who does that kind of work. Thanks.

You called?
Well, I'd say there's a short in the innermost coil windings on your pickup, Dan, thus a rewind is in order. I can take care of that. For free. Contact me off Forum if you're interested.
