Karl, the 760N is the tapewound set. The 760FM and FL are stainless flatwounds.

But if you're buying a new 4003, you'll probably need to enlarge the slots anyway if you plan on using any strings larger than the stock 045-055-075-105. They're cut pretty tight to those specs.

Karl there's a sizable contingent of us here that love "sound suckers" the rest of us like "ear bleeders" haha! I use different brand sound suckers on 5 of my 6 Rics. I never liked tapewounds because they were so huge. I tried the Rotos and still have them somewhere I think. Ric doesn't put the tapewounds on fretlesses any more either. I don't think they even have them, I ordered a new FL and it was coming with regular "ear bleeders" on it so I'm having Pyramids put on it. Actually I like Ric nickle round wounds for RW's. They have a pretty sound, not harsh like most to my ears.
