Ronn...I agree, XTC is one of the best bands of the last 25 years..."Generals and Majors" is even more relevant now than when they wrote it. I think their bass player plays a Rick, too...never saw 'em live.
Badfinger's cool as well...the song "Come and Get It" was the theme for the movie "The Magic Christian" with Peter Sellers and Ringo...I recommend this film in the strongest possible terms if you've ever wondered why the modern world is the way it is...

Anybody remember the band Klaatu? When their first album came out (early 70's?), people thought it was the Beatles.
Some good tunes on there, kinda Beatle-esque.

They were from up here (Toronto area) and were together since at least the early 70's. Released a number of well crafted albums from the mid 70's until the early 80's.
Klaatu made some early CBC TV appearances...and then the silly buzz about them being the Beatles began, and Capitol Records was saavy enough to go with it. "Sub Rosa Subway" DOES sound much like McCartney on the bass and lead vocals, but Klaatu themselves never pretended they were the Beatles.
Their third album (I think), "Sir Army Suit" from 1978, boasts a number of radio-friendly guitar pop (Dear Christine, Older, Everybody Took A Holiday, Routine Day). If you can find this one, you'll probably warm to it. Their earlier two album were more in the vein of progressive rock.
There is a compilation CD that was released about a decade ago.
No, I don't know them...but they can make the cheque out to...

I think there was some buzz at the time that Klaatu was actually the Beatles recording under a pseudonym. I bought the LP and listened to it, I liked it, but I knew the hype wasn't true.

Dane, I know of Colin using a Ric faker in one video("Mayor of Simpleton")but never knew of him using a real one but maybe so. He's known to play Fender Mustang, Wal, Fender P-bass fretted and fretless, Ibanez fretless, Epi Newport, and for the last few years a Vox.
I have the Klaatu compilation CD, it's...OK.
