I can stand almost anything, but three products of the seventies really grate the nerves: "Schlock Rock", i.e. light rock typified by the likes of Leo Sayer; anything by Boston; and "Black Betty" by Ram Jam. Rap is not music, so it is beneath consideration.

The problem with disco wasn't the groove or the string sections...it was all that blow...

90% of Rap (like everything else) is ****...but come on now: Public Enemy? Those guys are gods...there's a tiny number of other examples (Cypress Hill comes to mind), but I agree with you in large part, so let's save our arguing abilities for more important issues...

I've got lot's to say on this subject, but I'm out the door, gotta drive to Idaho today...I'm going to American Falls to teach Balinese music to school kids...concert with them on Thursday evening, then drive down to Laramie, Wyo. for all day rehearsals and concert Friday night with the U. of W. gamelan...then back down here Saturday for a wedding gig that night with PW3...not as bad as it sounds , 'cause they're freaky friends of ours, and they want us to play whatever we want, so that'll be fun, except I'll probably be a dishrag by then...

Peter, please leave this thread open 'til then if you can bear to...I got some stuff to add...(can you imagine?)...see you all this weekend...

oh by the way ... I love Judy in disguise ... somebody should do a heavy metal or punk version ... or a Van Halenesque over the top version of that song ... with guitar whammy solo instead of the strings in the original ...

Yeah 'Love shack' was terrible along with most of their other 'new wave parody' krap, same with 'The Cars'.
Rap should have it's own thread entitled 'worst antisocial kill all the cops and deal drugs organized noise' I would rather listen to a jack hammer in the street.

I hated all that stuff like The thompson Twins also, all that synthesisor stuff back in the early 80's, thank God it was only a fad. That's when I started going backwards to 50's music.

'Jump' Van Halen was really really bad too.

I don't think "worst single"(usually by someone with only one single, and expressing ones dislike of entire genres of music are quite the same thing. Do we need a new thread?

Well you know how it is, we start a thread about 73 fireglos and end up taking about Mr. Ed. At least this one has stayed somewhat on course. I'm probably the worst offender in this one.
I didn't think this was about one hit wonders, just worst hits. A lot of good bands have had some pretty bad hits.
