the reason I play music is because of nights like last night ... we played "Monterey Music Cafe" ... a nice local venue ... anyway the whole band had a good night ... we were really on top of our game ... it was the most fun I had playing music in a long time ... got some compliments on my ric 5 string basses ...

I also must acknowledge I do appreciate the extra B-string too, at least for now in my cover band playing all their britneyspearities, beyonceries, etc. But I am mostly a 4-stringer though, and I could play and/or compose _MY_ music for almost 30 years with "only" 4-string basses.

Cheers,

yep I live in southeast Michigan ... if anyone on the forum wants to visit and see my 5 string rics... you are welcome ...

there are some songs I don't need the low B ... but I still play my 5'er ... for instance my band does "Pride and Joy" in E with the 5'er I can start on the 4th fret on the B string and fret a low E ... this makes for a nice clean fingering pattern for blues ... so for Low D to F# the low B comes in handy for blues ...
