If you have a copy of the Rock N Roll Circus DVD, you'll see Brian Jones near the very end of his tether. Total basket case. I don't think he was even plugged in for the show. In the interview Pete Townshend does in the DVD bonus section, Pete talks about how BJ was crying before the show, scared to even get up on stage. Really, really sad.

I guess that's why they call it dope.

I've read interviews with Keef, saying that what people assume is him and Brian playing guitars on "Beggars Banquet" is actually Keith's overdubs and Brian zonked out on the floor. But then, Keith isn't afraid of letting the facts get in the way of a good story. However, I have the "Sympathy For The Devil" video, which does show quite a bit of Brian zonked out on the floor in the studio in '68.

I saw a documentary years back where Jagger (I think) said that at one point, BJ was playing three out of every ten notes correctly. They ended up cutting him out of the mix in some shows. Really sad, but we'll never forget him.

Good call with the pictures Peter - there's so much on this site that I've not discovered yet!
