Hi Folks:

Here are some new audio clips featuring my venerable Rickenbacker 360/12. The guitar is only a few months old and it is all stock with high gain pickups. In these clips it is routed through a Sabine Compressor, then into a Trace Eliott Acoustic 7 band EQ. The EQ is set in a soft “V” shape where the middle frequencies are rolled off just slightly. I also engaged the Preshape #1 on the EQ.

I used input #2 (lower level) on my Fender Hot Rod Deluxe amp which is loaded with a Celestion Vintage 30 speaker. The settings on the amp are as follows:

Channel: #1, clean
Bright switch: engaged
Volume: 4
Treble: 8
Bass: 6
Middle: 4
Reverb: 1.5
Presence: 6

Clip # 1: Both pickups are on. The settings on both the bridge and neck pickups are just slightly below full volume; the tone controls on both are up about 3/4 of the way. The fifth knob is tilted just slightly toward the neck pickup.

Clip # 2: Treble pickup only. Both volume and tone are set about 7/8 of the way up. The fifth knob is in the middle.

Clip #3: Neck pickup only. Same settings as described for clip #2. Compressor is bypassed in this sample.

Clip #4. Same settings as Clip #1. Guitar is routed through an Ibanez Tube Screamer, TS9 DX pedal with the tone and output levels set at 12:00. The drive is up all the way, and I used the + setting.

I used two AKG C5900 condenser microphones--one placed about 2” from the grill cloth just above the center of the V-30, and the other one about four feet away from the amp. I routed the mics through my Digi 001 and added a slight amount of compression in ProTools and a VERY slight amount of reverb to compensate for the shortcomings of the MP3 format.

Again, I think that these clips demonstrate the versatility of the 360/12 Check out the high gain pickups through the Tube Screamer! Let me know what you think.n Each clip is about 750KB.

Jeff, sounded great! You're right, the Rick 12 is very versatile.
