How Old Were You When You Got Your First Rick?

It was 1992 and I was 29 when I bought my first Rick- a jetglo 360/12.

In 1969 I had been saving for a Rick 345 FG that a dealer was holding for me, but then I heard Mike Bloomfield playing a Les Paul on the Super Session record and I bought a Les Paul instead. I finally got my first Rick, a '99 360/6 FG, as a 50th birthday gift from my wife in Oct. 2000. The following April I saw a turquoise 325V59 that looked so cool and I bought that one too! I really dig these guitars. I still have the Les Paul, but I usually unpack one of the Rickys to play. Best regards to all.

I was at the tender age of 20, living in Japan, and purchased a 6005 Rick Banjoline from an Airman for $250...had the 360 body style, but dot markers, 2 toaster pu's and accent vibrato..I tuned and played it as a 6 string. I've had 10 others since. can someone tell me how to attach a photo to this? Thanks, AL A.

I got my 1st Rick at the end of my senior year of H.S. in 1970[early May].A wonderful[one that got away; can you relate here??]Mapleglo 360-12, that was made in 1968[this was what is now referred
to as N.O.S.[new-old stock] #HJ1573.I sold it
5 years later to Paul Kantner of Jefferson Starship....for $475, at a time when No one would give you squat for a Rick 12.

I bought my first 4001 (Burgandyglo) when I was 15 in 1980. I had saved all my money to buy it working that summer in a pizza place. My parents thought that I was out of my mind to spend $500 on a guitar (with case!!), but I loved that bass so much, I had to have it. Unfortunately, I had to sell it six years later to pay for my education, so I hope whoever has it now is taking good care of it. I bought my second, third, fourth and fifth Rics 20 years later as an irresponsible adult. I'm not selling these!

My first was last year at the ripe old age of 53--a 340/12 jg. It makes a lot of difference when the kids move out of the house.

That "11" bit is one of the funniest parts of "This is Spinal Tap"... That, and listening to the sustain of an unplugged Les Paul.

Got my 330 at the age of 23. Brand new from A former RIC retailer. Also got a brand new TP 660-12 two years later.

I was 17...Imagine myself being a Beatle nut going into a real small music store ( that doesn't exist anymore!)and notice out of the corner of my eye this black flash on the rack!It was the very first time in my life that I came that close to a Rickenbacker. I did not have a clue what model it was but I knew that it was gorgeous and that it felt too good in my hands and that it had to be mine!!! So this is how I bought my first 360/6 jetglo for $350 bucks! I wish I would have kept it !!!
