Guitar Center ... where idiots go to buy from idiots ...

Did anyone ever consider that a lot of folks tend to use ebay as a guide to the value of objects?

I think that GC would love to have folks see guitars being listed at a high price on ebay, but able to be bought for a more "reasonable" price "in the store". This way folks think, "what a great deal I got at GC". It doesn't work on people who look closely at seller ID and make the connection, but then again, people who do lot's of homework often avoid GC.

Just my $.02

I won't mind those overpriced auctions should it come time to sell of some of my instruments. They will make my pricing look all that much more attractive.

Even better is that with inflated prices, I can safely view their auctions without the fear of hitting the buy it now. Image

Hmm, the last few times that Jetglo 1997 was posted it had a starting bid of $1999, now it's back down to $1299.

Response:

Dear Mr. Rath;

You can now bid on our burgers and fries auction, starting at just $25. Toppings extra. Burger is in excellent condition. It is Autumnglo in color. Only a few bite marks. Did I mention it is rare?
