Scott, people call me the gray em too, about other things on which I am knowledgeable, and I don't have a hair on my head.

I think they're referring to my outlook or maybe my personality...

It's a 360 with a dot inlay neck, interesting...all the more reason to believe it has to be an add-on.

Not all instruments with 'F' holes went to Rose Morris, or even left the U.S. Most did, but not all.

Since we don't know which neck this guitar originally had, it's tough to say what it should be called. Again, JH could tell by the SN.

Since it does have a replaced neck it is not a collectable instrument, and is already over a reasonable price to buy it and have it restored. At least in my opinion.

I wouldn't buy it on principle. That headstock hurts my eyes...

Scott, you think, at one time, it might have been a custom order and then later met the fate we now see?

All the more reason to buy it and put it back right. Of course, if it goes any higher, ....whats the point? Unless you just have to have a '64 1993. Hey, I need some syrup with this waffle.

If this guitar was re-necked, it was done with a blank that pre-dates 1972...'73 at the latest.

I had a re-necked 1966 360/12 in my hands last year; it had a 70's era neck on it without a doubt, and the neck on this whatever-it-is mystery is older than that. I think this is a cool piece though...more pics!!

JWilli, pass the butter too. LOL

"Gray Eminence, eh? Makes me sound old... It does sound better than how my friends introduce me, "This is Scott, he used to be 'the man'"..."

So who do your friends think is 'the man' now? Thats the $10 question!

John, what makes you say that it is a pre-72 neck blank? Is it the wide stripe of Shedua in the center? I do not recall what the stripe looked like on the re-necked '66. I do recall that it had partail-width inlays, but was 21-fret, of course. So it was customized for fitment to that guitar (why did I not buy it?!!).

The guitar also has a square neck heel, note that. I'd like to know what it says in the control cavity just for kicks.

Good question John. They haven't told me. Maybe they are trying to spare my feelings.

As I mentioned before the guitar in question does not have a factory neck on it. There is no specific era factory blank to debate on this one.

I've rarely seen a control cavity on a vintage 300 series guitar that actually listed what the instrument shipped as. I used to spend way too much of my time explaining to people that they did not have a one of a kind 365 12 string because it said '365' inside.

Bob, the '66 had the thin stripe down the center, yes....pretty certain that it was a 70's era neck.

Scott, as you say there wasn't a factory blank used in re-necking the guitar; if that's the case then it's likely that the original neck was used as a guide when the replacement was made....and other than the headstock length it has an undeniable resemblance to a Rickenbacker neck, square heel and all.

Does anyone know or remember if that DeLacey/Townsend type 360S/12 with the routes that turned a while back had a deluxe jackplate?

Gerry, yes it did....it had a replacement dual jackplate with an 'XX' stamping. A friend ended up with that guitar with the hopes of doing a proper restoration on it someday.

Apparently factory records describe this guitar as being exactly what it is- banjo keys & all.
