I'm sorely tempted to go further into debt, Steve.

There's a new 360/6 JG hanging on the wall at my local dealer.......... HELP!!!

Howard, what is your current Ric inventory? Is there something especially appealing to you about the 360 JG, as there is for me ? The fact that it's black, and used by Peter Buck, Paul Westerberg, and Eddie Vedder are top sellers, for sure !! It is, hands down, for me, the coolest black guitar there is, and the SOUND, I love the modern Ric 6-strings, they are fabulous!

Of course, I don't want to put you into more debt, if that is an issue. I hate to say it, but if money is a problem, you might be better off staying away from this addicting forum !! I am a bachelor, no wife, no kids, no debts. I didn't "need" the 360JG, as I already have the 330MG (I have blathered enough about this), I simply spoiled myself.

Please share, I can help you ...

PS : I am a bit hurt that Peter M hasn't congratulated me yet :-(

I'm sure he'll get to it, Steve!!

I currently have a 330/6 FG and a 660/12 FG (both new, with toasters). There isn't a Rick 1320/24 so I can't continue the sequence....haha!

I think JG especially suits the 360 and 620 and I would really like to get a 360 next - I want the hi-gains and I just love that neck!!

I also like the 360 MG (there's one of those hanging on the wall at another dealer) but I'm pretty sure I'll go for the JG (keeps me loyal to my current dealer who has looked after me very well, also. Come to think of it, he's got a 370/12 MG on the wall too!).

I'm trying to bide my time until an expected windfall arrives which will eradicate all my debts (home included) and allow me to indulge in a big way!

I have two kids (one still at school), an ex-wife (alimony!!), mortgage, etc. so I'm really pushing things by investing in Ricks at this time.

For me it's not a case of 'need' but 'want' - I hope to build up a bit of a collection.

Having a Rick addiction and staying away from the forum is virtually impossible. I look at it in the same way as giving up smoking - if you've got a pack sitting on the shelf and you don't touch it you know you are winning!!

Thanks for your concern, Steve. I'll be thinking of you and that black beauty!! (sorry - Jetglo).

Sounds like you're off to a good start. I agree that JG looks best w/ white binding, as in the 360 and 620. A 360 JG would fit right in there!! They are classic.

Definitely a classic. 360JG very much has a special mystique for me from the REM influence.

John, maybe you know, does Peter Buck use toasters or high-gains? I've seen some close-up shots with hi-gains, then other times, they looked more like toasters, but sometimes, if it's not up close, hi-gains can look like toasters. He may have more than one 360JG.

I'm pretty sure his "trucker special" has always had hi-gains. I can get a pretty similar sound on my 330 w/HGs.

In the early days I've heard he borrowed some of Mitch Easter's ricks, but I'm not sure what type of pups those had.

Sounds right. There was a "Rough Cut" special on MTV back in 1994, and it looked like toasters on the 360JG, but I'm not sure if that was the one with the sticker on it. I'll re-check !!

Well, after four days of playing and looking at my new 360JG, I am sending it back to MF, in exchange for a new one. The "crease" that I described simply bothers me, I find myself looking for it all the time, instead of enjoying the rest of the guitar. I took my other two Ric's out, 330 and 360/12, and looked for a similar irregularity, none were to be found. If you put a light on the guitar, and change your viewing angle, when the light goes over this area, it splits into two. In the end, I consider this to be a defect that is "always in view". Any similar experiences ? I am confident that my new 360JG will be stellar and near flawless.

Kinda hard to give an opinion without a few good photos, Steve. How about it?

The easiest way to show it is by just letting the overhead light shine on it. Here is a normal section of the guitar :

And here is the light shining on the irregularity :

For more typical viewing angles, you see it at about 30% of the angles, and it looks like a line across the body of the guitar, like a "crease". I don't think I am alone here, in that this would ultimately be upsetting, especially on a JetGlo. I did this experiment with my other Ric's, and they were both fine.

Puzzling. Not what I originally thought from your initial written description. Can't really diagnose from small pictures like those, however. If you've got larger pictures, e-mail them to me off list and I'll give it my best shot.

Look at how the light is split into two pieces, when it shines on the upper horn. That's because there is an irregularity across the body of the guitar, perpendicular to the length of the neck. Any time you look at the guitar, when the light shines there, you see a line, but a typical view is harder to photograph. It really doesn't look right, take my word for it. I sent it back already, and believe me, I really didn't want to. I am confident the next one will be just fine. Thanks !

Good luck Steve. 100% satisfaction with the next one, I hope.

I have the same exact thing that runs from the top of the cutaway to that part of the horn where your light shines on, runs parallel with the neck in my case.
I think yours is more pronounced then in my case...

It never showed up in any of the pictures I've taken. But in person it's visible if you look for it...

Always wondered what it is, I figured it was just a factory defect or it happened over the years.
