I've wanted a Rick 12 for 35 years, and finally I broke down last month and bought a 620/12 MG on eBay. It has so much more tonal range than I expected. It's just like you said, I had to get a 6 string to go along with it. Mr. UPS delivered my 620/6 FG yesterday, and now my 12 is my 2nd favorite guitar. DO IT - you won't be sorry.

I've had thoughts of picking up a 620/12 for a while now. I want another RIC 12, but I'd prefer to buy one that I don't feel requires me to spend another bagfull of $$$ on to make the neck more playable by having a re-spaced nut cut and installed...
So how do you like the neck on the 620?
Is it 330/360 narrow or 380/660 wide? Good? Bad?

It's narrow like a 330/360. I have always wanted a Ric 12, but always put it off because of the narrow spacing. I got this one off eBay, the price was OK, it was beautiful and less than a year old. I took the chance, and I'm glad I did. But I have relatively thin fingers, and open chords are still difficult to finger clean. Not so much because I hit extra notes, it's more like some strings get muffled. Mostly my finger on the B-strings interfering with the octave G-string or top E-string. I don't seem to have any problem with the lower strings.
Having said all that, if you felt it necessary to do the nut conversion on a 330/360, my guess is that you would need to do it on the 620 as well.
