I'm a charitable 5'8"...but the singer in my band is a little shorter. The guitarist is about 6'2", and the drummer a little taller/wider than that. Talk about a "Mutt and Jeff" group!
I picked up bass at about 15, but after 11 years of piano playing I had no problem with reach.

I'm 5'6". I feel short most of the time. I used to get made fun of by a couple of my friends... "Nate, you play bass? It's bigger than you!" Nice of them, huh?

Except for me most bassist are pretty tall!

I ended up with the bass after our guitarist convinced me that my fingers were too big for the guitar!!! Since then, I have developped a lot of sensitivity...So every time someone asks me how tall I am, I say 5'14" !!!

I started playing standup bass in orchestra, they handed out the violins,the violas, the cellos - "Hey you, yeah the tall guy, you get the bass"

It's his hair that makes him taller than me.
