Bear, the old ones skip your #2 and #4 positions and have the other three. The old V4-B's had slightly different frequencies from the old SVT heads, probably because they started out as guitar heads.
Dean if I'm in a rough room I start flat and go from there. I also like to move air, hence the low boost and I like a crisp top end, hence the treble boost and bright switch on. I also have been lieing my cabs down on the floor opposite Lars for the last year, I can hear the rest of the band better and I get more bottom.
I leave one of my SVT set ups at a blues jam every Thursday and asked the soundman-bassplayer there to take care of it for me. He had just bought a big SWR head and a Peavey 4x 10 cab, after using the SVT he says he doesn't even want to use his stuff anymore, haha! He said he can't believe the headroom he it has. Also after trying my Ric he said the same thing about his 5 string something or other, he loves the way the Ric plays and sounds.

Bob,
Glad I waited until now to get one. The five way selctor is really very nice. The presence button on the back is another nice feature for non horn full range cabinets like my Bag Ends.
Now where did I store my old rack mount McIntosh tube amps?

yeah, You wish, haha!
McIntosh tube amps are the most perfect sounding stereo amps I've ever heard in my life. I had one, an MC30 with a matching mono tuner and used to run an Advent mono FM tuner through it and it sounded unbelievable, anyone who says that can't hear a difference between tubes and SS should check out a Mac.

For me it was a pair of Quadd II mono blocks, fed by a Linn Sondeck, still my favourites. I've also a Quad 606, but you're right, nothing comes close.

I don't know about that. I once auditioned an Audio Research SP-9 against my Aragon 24K and the SP-9 sounde harsh and sterile compared to the 24K. Yes I did let them both warm up for at least an hour before any serious listening.

The SP-9 is a preamp, it sure would be the loudest AR preamp with 300Bs in it!

Hey, Edski--I use that Behringer head for a backup, and actually your EQ settings are just about the REVERSE of Jeff's...not the same as his. Your settings are also pretty much the reverse of mine when I use that head. Jeff has his peaking at 150hz and 2kz...the closest Behringer knobs to those frequencies are those little 140hz and 1.6kz knobs in between the L/M/H knobs. So my settings are 5-7-4-7-5, which is more of a parallel to Jeff's. Try it out that way and see what you think. I try to stay away from that "M" knob on that amp, it tends to make my Rick's honk.
