"We could always meet at Cozy's! Monday nites they have a pro blues jam"!
That sounds cool, there is also Chasers in Orange with an open blues jam on Sunday nights. Imagine all those Ricks in a club all at once...

Hmmm 8-10 bass player all on stage at one time, and all playing Rics ... would be a sight to see and hear !!!

Depending on the timing, I might be available. I don't think I could manage to bring the whole collection this time though.

Ted - If you come you come I could set you up on the beach at Seal Beach. This is a GREAT PLACE!! I always stay there when I visit my mom. Thats where I'm going to retire..........someday.
This offer is only to you guys from the east coast and midwest.
Hell -- do what I did and carry on what you can on the plane.
We need you to come. Ted!!!

I know this is a local event but since it was brought up, Can I take my 4003 on the plane? I haven't flown in years and never tried to take an instrument on board. I'm going back to SDak for a family reunion in a couple of weeks and I'll probably have to play some bluegrass/traditional country with my dad and younger siblings. Maybe I can talk em into a blues thang!

Charly, I could have took my 4005 on the plane but it needed to be in a gigbag. No such luck today otherwise with the way things are now if you wanted to bring it on board. You'll need to do what I did for Columbus and pack it in a hardshell case and check it in like you are shipping it. Mine came out OK.

I have a hard shell. So you're saying I won't be able to bring it on in a hard shell> Checked as luggage instead?

Yeah, no chance. Call your airline. You might be able to check it in at the gate and then they hand it back to you when you get off. That way it dosen't get thrown around like the rest of the baggage.

Oh contraire-a gate check usually, depending upon equipment (aircraft) sends the bag down a large pipe that runs along the jet bridge. It is then tossed into a holding compartment, unsecured.
If the aircraft is a wide-body then it would be better off in a ATA approved travel case, which then goes into a oversize can.
You will also need to "over insure" the g'tar because I believe the max you can claim is $600.
NO matter if you call ahead, the answer you get is directly related to how someone's day is going.
IMHO

Jared's about right. All depends on who you get on the day. I'll say it again, but if you are serious about transporting your gear an ATA case is essential..

Can you do it the last week of August? I'll be on vacation in San Diego. I'm sure the wife won't mind me bringing a 4003 with me .

Andy,
That's almost identical to the Calzone I just bought, minus the stickers. !!!
Ron,
Do you mean the week beggining the 22nd, or the 29th ? I work in San Diego so maybe we could hook up anyway.
The rest of you ... let me have some ideas as to dates.
We now potentialy have the weekend of 20-21st August, or 27-28th of August.

FYI - I'm gonna be making Monday nites at Cozy's a regular thing for a while. I doubt I will actually jam for a while but I enjoyed listening to all of the talent! So if you see a guy in a Dodger's cap, that's me.
If one does get up there, is there a law that says you have to take a solo? Ive never been interested in anything but keeping the groove so would not have anything to add as a solo. I would enjoy the heck out of playing while the others do their thing tho!
