Nah, there're always too many of us for that, thats why you need numbers to pull it off.

Yeah I did the same and even advised him to buy the 92 fireglo 4003 he also had a bid on. He also has a bid on a jetglo with Seymore soundsuckers in it.

God, that copy has THE most HORRID finish I've ever seen. It looks like they spray-painted a circle of flat red around the edge of the bass.

I suggested the '92 FG too.

I emailed him a few days ago with information and pictures stating why his instrument was not a Ric and he really should revise or remove his listing.
He replied.."As far as the inlays, I have researched numerous books about these
basses and in the mid 70s they did use triangle shaped inlays just like
what you see and the 4002 series was a bolt on. If you do not wish to
bid, don't. Please email me questions only."
So then I emailed him with info on the 4002 and why he was wrong about everything else about it, and then...OK, here's a question, what's the serial number? Haven't heard back.

Maybe it's a 2040...you know, the bass half of a 4080. I like how it says "It is a clean Bass guitar and has a few play marks and some minor scratches. Outside of that, it is scratch and ding free." HUH?
That's like saying 'if this car had not been hit by a train, it would be dent free'.

According to the ad, you must look very close at the pictures to see the actual Rickenbacker guitar up for sale. LOL
I think this horribly dishonest seller schemingly caluculated out his ads running time.

I just e-mailed this to him:
I looked at the pictures very closely and didn't see the Rickenbacker guitar, where is it? all I see is an imposter, if you have a Rickenbacker you should put a picture of it in your ad.

I e-mailed him right away, and over the holiday weekend, he responded. I told him there are several things about that bass that indicated a "Fakenbacker" and offered to help him sort out what brand it really was. I also told him that RIC would likely force eBay to pull the ad (ain't happened yet).
His response: "Whatever."
