Thanks for the compliments, guys. You don't see many ESs in that color, fer sher. And those '57 pups really kick!

Just fishing for opinions here: Would you think this guitar is MORE or LESS of an investment with Ike's handwritten lyrics and autographs (there are 2 dated signatures on the face)? Comments please?

I have an ES-335, but I removed the pickguard, added vintage knobs, changed the tuners to the ivory ones, and added an "aged" toggle switch knob.

Here's a Squire Tele that our group uses from time to time.

That's a nice Bassman Peter.

I would leave Ike's handwriting on it, it's probably worth less though as with most autographs, well it has the lyrics, I don't know actually.

Dennis: Thanks for asking about the tonality of the Tele with Filtertrons.

This instrument was selected to be a "beater" as where I live there is a need to venture out into -40 degree celsius weather to play, and it gets even colder in the winter, ha. There is no way I am taking my Rickenbackers out in this deep freeze.

The requirements were for a six-string that had good potential for bending, a fast maple neck but the sound of a Gretsch on vintage 1960s songs. This guitar has had all sorts of pickups in it, however, the Filtertrons rule given the sound requirements.

All three pickups produce a full sound and allow for the scintilating Gretsch tonality in a guitar that can take a pounding. The bridge pickup has cutting lead that sparkles. This sparkling tonality is also present in the mellow neck pickup which has a bluesy quality that is over the top. The two pickup position is a more swirling tonality that is full and rich quality that makes for a great rhythm position. This guitar sounds great through the Vox AC-30 and the Fender Twin Reverb. Even through the Vox you would swear that there is a reverb on at times.

It achieves a wonderful full humbucking sound that emulates the Gretsch as well as the Gibson solid bodies. It does not sound like a Fender in any way.

The drawback is that it weighs a ton and what can you expect, plywood is heavy.

Peter, I own that same guitar. I bought it as a beater to bring on a vacation with me and it has left me impressed. I planned to put some better humbuckers in it, but now your Filtertron idea looks very interesting, being that I don't have a guitar with them.
